After giving up on Sony, I went with the "fan favorite" Panasonic UB820. I haven't had any issues with it, and it just generally looks better with both 4K discs and upscaling standard blu-rays. Also something to keep in mind with the UB820 is that it's one of the Panasonic players that lets you bypass some region locks on Region B/C discs.
These players are just very hit or miss, some are good, others aren't.
If you buy, play some 4k discs during your return window and make sure ya got a good one

Yes, believe it or not many people still value quality over convenience ikr! ๐คฏ
Another plus is the PQ looks better with all 3 disc formats.
Don't forget to turn on/off DV when needed, Sony states it's required.

Yeah, believe it or not there were people here on this planet before your generation showed up and we created all this technology for you and there's literally hundreds of billions of blu-rays out there and we're not of your instant gratification Spotify world where we've got favorite movies that we have on a library that we want to see in the best possible source and streaming won't do that. Sorry
Also, like most Sony players, it does not play nice with certain audio codecs (I think some version of Dolby), when you try to play files through the USB port they are silent. I have to pull out my 10 year old Fire TV to play those through VLC.
