Few things to note about these:

They don't require the laptop have DP alt mode on the USB-C connector, which can be a plus, but this means the displays are using DisplayLink which is an abstraction layer built up on USB, and uses the CPU and GPU to render these displays in software. Which if your system is decently powerful and has a dedicated GPU, isn't really a huge issue, but if it has only CPU integrated graphics, DisplayLink performance can be quire terrible under certain conditions, like doing anything that's tasking the GPU with even something as "simple" as YouTube playback, and gaming is out of the question.

They're generally fine for most office uses, but gaming is not going to be a fun experience and if you have no dedicated GPU, even watching videos can lead to the display becoming a stuttering mess.

DisplayLink is useful, but it's not a replacement for a true display connection, like docks that connect over DisplayPort alt mode. But if your laptop doesn't have DP Alt Mode, this is the only way you're going to get a docking station, so it does have some uses.

Just a heads up, this is a displaylink dock.

Probably fine for most users and office use. Just be aware it will require additional drivers to output video to an external monitor, and you will not be able to drive dedicated GPU graphics to an external monitor with this dock if that is something you need.

Have seen this on sale for $50 for a couple months now and was considering.

At $20 this a no brainer for anyone with a laptop.

And 100w wouldn't power my laptop anyway, I want it for the ports. Though I wouldn't pay much attention to one review on Amazon. There are some real crazies out there.

I ordered off eBay.

I ended up canceling the order. HP website is awful and had to go through several failed chat sessions. I looked more into displaylink and it's really a poor man's docking solution. It uses lossy video compression and you are not performing miracles with a 10gbps usbc connection. I didn't realize it wasn't a direct DP connection at first. Am not too familiar with these things in general. It's kind of like streaming a video of your desktop, even though it's literally right there. It's designed for things like excel and word documents, but a joke for anything else. Watch your monitor turn into a choppy mess when dragging a file off from a usb drive. It was also on a whim, like others here, and not useful for a laptop that already has a decent array of ports and requires way more than 100w of charging. Even though I ordered a few hours ago, the chat ppl are giving me the run around trying to make me keep it. Have you thought of giving it to a friend?? How about a $3 credit? We already sent it to the warehouse! I said no to everything. For those thinking it's a good idea to flip it. Think again. Ebay history shows almost no buyers in the last six months, and it can be had for $60 already from there with free shipping. The price is gonna plummet, and after the $20 original cost with $15 shipping for 2lb box plus eBay fees, you might make a whole penny.
