What annoys me the most is that when I sell something I've owned I still have to pay Uncle Sam.
Actually, you always had to pay income tax on anything you purchased and then sold for a profit. It's just that most of the time people only sold something at a loss or no capital gain (used for x years so nearly zero value and sold for what would be estimated value). It's when you have a gain that the event becomes taxable (short or long term capital gains)--just like with stocks, et al.

And the corollary to this is the 'no sales tax' where most states require you to submit a 'use tax' if you were not charged sales tax. This is an area that a lot of state taxing agencies are starting to reel in with audits and penalties and interest.

If you're going to buy and resell, just remember all this to stay on the good side of the law. nod

Just a heads up, this is a displaylink dock.

Probably fine for most users and office use. Just be aware it will require additional drivers to output video to an external monitor, and you will not be able to drive dedicated GPU graphics to an external monitor with this dock if that is something you need.
uh what? I have usbC alt mode laptop. I plan to use two monitors through this docking station. Do you mean my GPU won't drive dedicated graphics to any monitor through this docking station? So I would need to directly connect my main monitor to the laptop for playing graphic intensive games?

I believe that would be correct.

This dock is not good for modern PC/laptop with USB-C DP alt mode.
It uses USB as display card (DisplayLink), it is slow, CPU intensive driver, and cannot utilize your CPU Integrated GPU.
It is good for old PC without USB-C DP alt mode...
You need an USB-C DP alt mode dock for the best

I'm still trying to determine if I'm getting a $150-$200 dock or a $40-$50 dollar dock for $20.

Prices & comments are all over the place...

I hear you. Because of that, leaning towards canceling my order. My order has not shipped yet from Walmart (HP is the seller).

The HP $300+ msrp is inflated as all things msrp are, but why such a huge range? Was this dock closer to that price when it released however many years ago? I've been wanting one, but random Chinese branding has kept me away.

I'm not canceling either way because Targus is a known brand, but this is the most confused I've ever been.

I'm confused as well. Is this https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/914587
better than this targus deal?

If you have a modern laptop/PC (ie. Intel gen5 CPU or above) which supports "USB-C DP alt mode", your link is certernly better than Targus dock

My order has been stuck at confirmed, so I chatted them. They claim their shipping warehouse has been closed due to damage from winter storms. They hope to have it up and running sometime this coming week. I'm canceling and ordering the Amazon deal.
