My order has been stuck at confirmed, so I chatted them. They claim their shipping warehouse has been closed due to damage from winter storms. They hope to have it up and running sometime this coming week. I'm canceling and ordering the Amazon deal.
wow that's unfortunate. Hopefully all is good with that situation soon.

If you have a modern laptop/PC (ie. Intel gen5 CPU or above) which supports "USB-C DP alt mode", your link is certernly better than Targus dock
Would using this Targus dock without a monitor connected (and connecting directly) be a good option for it to be less CPU intensive? thanks

If you're using the dock for basic port replicator purposes that don't require significant video processing, you'll never notifice the difference between this and one that supports alt mode. If you do need to run something graphics intensive then yes - you could connect the appropriate monitor directly to the PC.

Yes, you can use it without the dock connection to the monitor. For Windows OS, the default is in mirror mode, but it is hard to test the CPU utilization without comparison. When I am using it in extended mode, when I move a video screen to the dock driving monitor, the CPU utilization increases by 80%. When the video window moves to the monitor directly connected to the PC, the CPU utilization immediately drops to 5% or less. Let me check if mirror mode does not increase CPU utilization.

So this may be a dumb question [though there's no such thing as dumb questions, only dumb people], but if I have a 10GB USB-C hub with a HDMI connection which I connect into this Targus dock, does it still limit me to DisplayLink or do I inherit whatever the hub supports (in this case it's a Minisopuru USB C Hub, 7 in 1 USB C Dongle USB Hub with HDMI)?

I'm assuming I'll be able to daisy chain my hub into the Targus dock and get direct connection to my onboard video card, but I don't want to assume...

Thoughts?

Wow 80% CPU utilization seems crazy high. Thanks for sharing.

I noticed that on Targus product page, in specs it has the following:
Host Port Compatibility
USB-A and USB-C, DP Alt. Mode, TB3 Compatible

is this a typo? but DP alt mode is listed there.

That's a good catch - it absolutely lists Alt Mode there.
