As far as I can see that's only for existing customers

No way, I paid less than $800 for my S22 Ultra, I wouldn't pay $800 for S24 Ultra, it will be that price very soon. The original price of $1200+ is too high for S24U

That's a very good trade-in value from Samsung for a 6-year old phone (that they might be able to resell in bulk for $40)! Guess they really want to keep Note 8 users in the Sam fam.

As soon as I accept the phone treated and "yes I agree" the price jumps to 899 on a Note8 AM I missing something?
whats missing is you picked S24 Ultra which is the most expensive phone. This thread is for the S24+ which is much cheaper MSRP.

Why do you get why?

Phones have insane amount of memory needs for people like me that like to take videos and pictures, apps keep going up and memory, yet my Note 4 with an SD card had way more memory then the s23 I have.

There's phones out there with memory card slots just not Samsungs
Name a high end phone being sold in the US with a memory card option. Last i checked only Sony high end phone had a memory card option but Sony is not very popular here.

This is upsetting, because I have a Note10+ as my daily phone, and have been looking for a good trade-in deal for it. Three days ago I dropped my phone in the bath while the kids were on a call with their grandmother. I've dropped the phone in water a handful of times in the past, but this time it didn't make it. Over the course of three days, the screen got worse and worse, and now is no longer functioning. This means my phone is no longer eligible, and this would have been a good upgrade.
I used my note 10 plus for the S24 Ultra pre-order for 400 trade value. S24 would be a downgrade without the S pen.

This is s24 base with s22 base trade in. Any thoughts?
Add some cashback to this and might make it good enough

not really a deal. He's probably on some expensive plan that lets him swap phones for an upgrade.
Good rule to not comment when you don't know what you're talking about.
Spectrum is $30 for 2 unlimited lines for the first year. After that it's $30 each line. Or you can do lines by the GB for $14. No contracts.

Use education discount (probably have to create a new Samsung account because you can't swap government to education once it's set on your account) and a referral code for about $75-150 more off (though not sure if the $25 credit will stack still).

How can I get the referral code?

It got weird once I used the the digitaltrends link. You are right, $150 - $127.82 = ~$22. But Samsung was telling me I had a few cents remaining.
I forgot to ask...what's the digitaltrends link? Is that a cash back link?

I searched "best s24 ultra deals" on google, and one of the top links is a digitaltrends link for best pre-order deals. One of the recommendations is the Samsung website, and they have a link that will add an extra $50 Samsung credit on top of the $100. Well, that's what they say, but like I said, the numbers got weird and I stopped doing math. I do know, it saved more money.

Thanks. It sounds like the digitaltrends link is giving the extra $50 instant credit that people got for pre-registering with Samsung. You can also get the extra $50 instant credit by applying coupon code EUREK24 but the code only appears to work when you have more than $100 in accessories in your cart when buying the S24 Ultra or when you have more than $75 in accessories when buying thr S24+. The code basically increases the instant credit from $100 to $150 for the Ultra and from $75 to $125 for the Plus.

What's the consensus on the best trade in value, eg buying a cheap refurb on eBay and trading it in?

I feel ya. I've been rocking my Note 9 for 5 years, not a scratch on it, even though I've dropped it dozens of times on all kinds of surfaces. My case finally wore out a couple months ago so I had to start going naked until these preorders came out. About a month ago I dropped it on my paver driveway, and totally shattered my screen! It still works luckily...but it dropped my trade-in value from 400 to 200. So close...
That sucks, you should've bought a new case. I had to replace mine on my n9 a few times.

Samsung could easily put that AI software in its earlier models. The hardware upgrade isn't that special.
