1st of all, how can we tell that your suggestion is better based on the issues of an older model of G14? Don't want to compare it against this model instead?
2ndly, if you're looking for a powerful gaming laptop in portable form factor, G14 RTX 4070 is way more powerful than Slim Pro 9i.
Depends on your use case? The RTX 4050 is the lowest tier DGPU of the 4000 series and is up to 40-60% slower than the 4070. It also only has 6gb of vram which is very low.
That said, if you are only creating content and/or doing productivity related tasks and want a mini LED screen, maybe the other is a better deal for you? But if that's your use case there are many other options that would probably be a better fit for the money spent.
From a gaming perspective, I think the G14 is a much better deal here if you can get one without quality control issues. The screen on the G14 is also very, very good for an IPS panel.
I like Asus hardware, but don't at all like having to deal with Armoury Crate—bloated yet under-featured—or else rely on a small third-party replacement app for essential functions.
this deal is not good considering the 4060 version of this was just on sale for $1050 new/$872 open box, all last week. going from a 4060 to a 4070 for over a 30% increase in price is insane

this one has a better processor and double the storage, so not that insane

The CPU is the same in both of the 4060 and 4070 version. Only difference besides the GPU is 512GB SSD in the 4060 version vs 1GB SSD in the 4070 version of the G14.
