decent deal. has anyone seen any refurb/open box for cheaper?
It's only about max $100 discount now on the silver model. BB OB prices only drop super low when the deals are to the public, not total/plus members.
This spec is always on sale around this price or a little more to the public. Just wait, they've dipped as low as $1600 for the silver model or a little more for space black, which is not a bad deal. Good luck picking through the boxes, though. You'll need to be patient and be willing to drive, deal with staff who can't find them, inspect for dents/liquid damage, etc. However--it's worth it. Got my 1tb unbinned M3 Pro for $1807 OB during the holidays and recently grabbed the 36gb/512 16" for 22% off OB. Sick prices for the patient.
I tried twice to pickup the same config in Open Box Excellent for $1650. Both times my ordered was canceled. Complained to CS and was given the run around and told me I had to wait to re-book the order even though the unit shows in-stock/available for shipment. Not sure what it is but it would appear Best Buy is just trying to squeeze out the difference of a few dollars as it raises the prices by the time I could go back and re-order.

Employees trying to buy it themself by marking the laptop as not inspected for resell. Happened to an unit close to me last summer; get order cancelled thrice in the morning so I go in in the afternoon, order on phone and walk to counter for pickup. The counter called someone in the back saying customer pick up and the guy at the back come out giving me evil eyes
The sent me an Open Box M1 laptop instead of new M2 laptop that I ordered. The store wont take it back and replace. I had to go through the replacement order online. Eventually the replacement order got cancelled and never arrived. I had to call CS again for refund

They sent you the wrong item and wouldn't take it back??

Whenever I see these total member only deals I go and look to see who else has it on sale. It's been my experience that these total member only sales mean that someone what BB price matches already has it at this price. In this case it's at least B&H there could be others. So if you want this and want to buy it from BB you don't have to be a total/plus member you just have to do a price match.

As a Best Buy Total member, I get free AppleCare+ on every Apple product I buy, and also shop when the prices are lowest or open-box Excellent is available (also covered under free AC+). I also get rewards points to use towards future purchases. It totally (no pun intended) makes sense if you're going to buy multiple Apple products throughout the year.
Wont take back in store...since it was online order..thats was I was told
Correct happened to me even on a 20 item !!
Bb is the worst.. just becoming a warehouse store … I am in va and they never have anything pushing me to Amazon…last man standing ..WHERE IN THE WORLD IS CIRCUIT CITY???😏

yep brother i will upvote you! in two years of total tech i have had 2 smart watches and 2 apple airpod pros replaced with basically zero questions asked! also the free tv installation and tech support! i would gladly pay $200 annually for these services!

Yeah, that's another benefit -- Free TV setup and mounting! I was looking at some TV deals and notices the delivery, setup and wall mounting were all FREE. Sure, I could do it myself, but why when a "pro" can do it for free!

Out of business due to lax return policies, constant sales and discounts leading to too many sales being made at a loss and net effect is not turning a profit. That's where all the good stores went because they can't make a profit giving things away and then having a store full of returned/used product.
Everyone wants every store to be like Costco who will take anything back any time, but Costco is unique and other businesses can't survive.
I have nothing but good things to say about BB. I've never had a problem returning something to a store that I bought online. I buy tons of stuff, and pay for their Total membership.

might disagree on the whole return aspect of circuit city. it was actually poor overall sales that caused them to go bankrupt, basically they abandoned appliances in the late 90s thinking small electronics would be the next big thing!
guess what best buy sells the most of in each store and has a dedicated department for? appliances! if your ipad breaks you can go without it for a few weeks even months, if your nine year old washer or dryer breaks you are at bestbuy right after work!
the shrewd salesmen and fake rebates also turned off a little people to circuit city.

One thing I learned about buying appliances at BB -- don't buy their store brand, Insignia. Short warranty and then you're out of luck fixing it yourself. Bought a freezer during COVID and 2.5 years later, the door seal has failed. Lots of other buyers with same issue but BB won't repair it for free.
