1,000 points are valued at about $8
Not the greatest promo, unless you have some serious stay activity coming up in the next few months. But I'll take it, as any extra points will help offset the devaluation Marriott has done to their redemption / hotel category process over the past few years. still not as bad as Hilton devalued their program...but it's getting there in the race to the bottom of the devaluation path.

This promotion occurs every year roughly during the same time period and I welcome it.
If you're not in that category - this promotion has little value to you.
If you think Marriott tiers are devalued and diluted - please enjoy your stays at other hotels.
If you are lifetime platinum status and you choose to burn 46k points instead of paying $200 on a room - then sadly I have to question your understanding of how this game is played.

Using Marriott points to book for personal travel, you better make sure to book 5 nights all the time to maximize the book with points for 4 nights and get the 5th free.
The wordplay makes it seem that you're getting a free-night certificate or something, effectively making it BOGO, but it's not.
I'm getting many elite night credits from two cards I have, one from Chase and another one from Amex, an old Starwood SPG card. Marriott points are not that valuable, although there is a bonus. Take a look at this [marriott.com]so you get the idea.
This is only good if you're going to stay anyway. IDKWhy SD promoted it to FP.
At least warn what this is really about in Wiki.
P.S. Combine with 20% Amex offer (have it on a free business card, capped at $60) and 6% cash back on the top
P.P.S Check Chase offers as well
There's no Diamond with Marriott.
