Costco has $60 or $100 off a set of Bridgestone tires, valid 2/28/2024 to 4/9/2024. If you are not a Costco member, Discount Tire should price match.

Discount Tire matches not only the tire price but the free installation as well, at least they have for me the past two sets of tires I've purchased. They looked at the out the door price from Costco and adjusted their price accordingly.
Costco also includes rotation and balancing for 5 years. Which unless you are driving less than 5k miles a year, is pretty much the whole life of the tire.
Plus it includes road hazard for those 5 years as well. DT that is extra. Im not saying Costco beats DT on every tire they share but after fees usually Costco ends up slightly better.

1st Costco experience(normally do Discount Tire) I was the first appointment when they opened and first to check in. Took 2 hours for new tires.

It will only get worse when they are unionized. The workers have the skill set similar to any department store employee but are paid higher, like In and Out employees. Their service suffers

But isn't discount tire a full no cost replacement where as costco is a prorated replacement.

Doesn't Discount Tire price match or beat others prices?

I needed to replace all four of my tires at the beginning of January. I first went to Costco and got some quotes, then took those quotes down to DT. They slightly undercut Costco's prices and had me out of there in 45 minutes. Great experience. No disrespect intended to Costco as I'm a loyal member of them and have nothing but good experiences with them. Just Discount Tires won the day for me on this.

Dunno if anyone here has experienced this at their Iocal Costco but it seems that tire changes take forever, even if no one eIse is gettin serviced. Goin forward it is may be better to get 'em swapped out somewhere eIse.
Costco in NJ are always busy busy busy. Even for a rotation, I typically walk over to a strip mall, get a haircut, grab some lunch and then still have time for a leisurely stroll thru Costco which can be dangerous. My only longtime complaint is that they should get rid of the silly nitrogen BS and pass the savings along to us. I think it was the top bullet point on their little poster if I recall.

I hate DT. They don't even patch your tires anymore for free. They have a million excuses to not touch it, but instead try to sell you new ones.

Do you happen to use Edison Costco? That one is an epic mayhem.

Trying to plan ahead here on my next tire changes. What are typically the best sales to wait for? Tia

Is it safe to assume you have to keep your membership active for the life of the tires in order to take advantage of the rotations, balance and road hazard?

For the best sales, they usually offer a 'buy 3, get 1 free' deal. A discount of -$60 is NOT a slick deal. However, if you need tires right NOW, then go for it. It is not worth 'saving' more if you are risking yourself on the road. Otherwise, if you can wait, just wait...

What's the best place to get just 1 tire if I need a replacement?
You should buy tires in sets of two or better yet all four so they match and have equal stopping power. If getting one try to find one exactly the same. Becasue your anti-lock brake sytem and your automatic collision brake system is calibrated for all 4 tires being the same. If one is very different you are putting your life at risk. Basically your car may loose control or will not be able to stop in time and the collision will be your fault. A minimum accident repair may cost you $1k. but tires are cheaper and you also won't hurt anyone else.
If you have an older car (pre 1990s) and don't have any of the newer technology then never mind just get a similar tire than looks good.Applause

Wharton and East Hanover, not sure which is worse. Edison has booze, right? Haven't been to the Wayne one in years, booze was always a plus.

Has anyone had any experience in getting Costco to honor tire mileage warranties on existing tires? I imagine they do it similarly to how DT does it, but wanted to see if anyone has first hand experience.

Thanks for the details. I wasn't aware of the reasons but have always insisted on changing both tires per axle at a time.

This time I'm in a unique situation. It's a 2017 vehicle that I changed all 4 tires about under 5k miles ago.

I'm selling the car now and 1 became irreparable, so I put on the best of the 4 older tires I had removed.

I'm thinking with such low mileage on the 3 new good ones, I can just replace that 1 tire before the buyer comes out to look at it, so there isn't room for them to negotiate me down.

Plus, I'll feel better with 1 new tire, than the 1 old tire, if I drove until it sold.

I do. One of the tire was damaged beyond repair in about 3 year mark. They prorated it at towards a replacement. OTD cost to me was ~ $50.

I came here to mention this. Costco discount is prorated based on the wear of the tire while DT is a full replacement regardless of wear.

I always go with DT now because I can "buy" one more tire to complete a front or rear set and save the other worn tire as a spare.
