H&R can't make money if they allow you next year.
In my opinion, Direct File could be a real revolution if they incorporate this functionality. OR maybe, just maybe, the existence of Direct File will force the commercial tax software industry to actually innovate and then maybe then they'll incorporate this kind of functionality. Other than adding an online option that is more expensive and less functional, nothing has changed with the functionality of tax software in decades.
And they copied the system from the US, but they perfected it over the years. It's mind boggling that IRS is unable to do the same in 2024.

I do this for PA/NY taxes and its been working just fine as NY is eFile for free and for PA I sometimes pay to eFile or mail depending on the software as at times it wont let me eFile due to Foreign taxes etc.
