There are tons of people not using dGPU at all. They want long battery life and adequate performance for Stata, R and office. I myself won't buy any laptop with dGPU.

Damn i just bought the older last gen with the 6900hs and rtx 3050ti open box for the same price. Should i return and get this newer one? I think the 6900hs is slower but i get 1tb ssd instead

Very strange to market this as a "gaming laptop" without a dGPU. The processor is nice though.

Doesn't the 3050ti blow the 780M out of the water in terms of graphics when gaming?

It does, plus it has double the storage. It depends on the person's needs. I'm getting this one for personal use when traveling, don't care much for the gaming

Damn near firesale at this price point. Mind you the 7940hs has the 780M IGPU which is basically equal to whats in the Rog Ally, and that is marketed as a "gaming" handheld.. so this is a quite capable iGPU if you running at 1080P mid or 720p high settings.

I do wonder if this huge discount means there is a x13/x16 refresh coming soon.. Would love to see it paired with a OLED screen finally and leverage the 4000 mobile series nvidia cards...

me. one who does not play AAA games but is also a designer who wants that 2in1 with touch. There is no other laptop like this on the market. The rest of the 2in1 world has intel chips with intel iris graphics. This, even integrated is a world apart from the hp spectre i had before this.

In for one! Thanks OP!
This is EXACTLY what I wanted to replace my old work laptop. I've literally been looking for laptops with the 7840/7940HS chips for the last 6 months. It'll even do some light gaming too!

The 16GBs soldered is a bit of a bummer but I don't think I really hit that limitation much, if at all, in regular usage.

Can it run stable diffusion...? Yes. You can run stable diffusion on CPUs without an iGPU/dGPU so the answer will always be "yes."

Can it run stable diffusion well or comparable to using NVIDIA GPUs...? No.
