FYI for Woot app deals, you can click "Amazon ratings" and it takes you to the review page. This page has an "Add to Cart" button that you can add app-only deals to your cart on the webpage and checkout.

Found the gen Z! 😄

The reference is to a style of ad for Holiday Inn Express about 15 years ago. The schtick is someone is ostensibly an expert in something, but it turns out they're just smart and stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. https://youtu.be/oi2zQLAnRcQ

Listing as 90 day Woot warranty? As unopened, I would have thought they'd have the manufacturer warranty. If they don't, I'd seriously consider the reconditioned ones with the 2 year third party warranty over these.

What connectivity problems are you referring to? I don't have any connectivity issues.

I purchased mine used from Secondipity first and they sent me a worn-down unit with broken ANC. I promptly returned it and purchased a brand-new unit. I love this headset, but it feels fragile, and I wouldn't want to purchase one without a warranty. For this price, you can probably score a brand new unit from an authorized reseller. I paid less than this during the xmas holidays. Woot's 90 days warranty is better than no warranty, but it isn't really much.

just want to add personally that i bought these from one of the recent secondipity deals and they are so painful for me to wear for more than about 2 hours, maybe less honestly. the headband is thinner than older models and has much less cushioning and it hurts the top of my head, and i get a lot of pain around the ears as well. i could wear my older sony BT headphones for 10+ hours with no pain or discomfort.

i'm returning mine and will look out for deals on the xm4 because those appear more similar in design to the older ones i had and they have wider/thicker headband cushioning.

Is new worth the $80 premium over the Secondipity refurbished $200? I like my refurbs but they sometimes skip once every 2 hours or so of use.
I bought it from Secondipty for $180 during one of the sales. it came looking brand new in the box, with no sign of use. the headphone is great overall. battery life is exceptionally good. I personally wouldn't pay more than $200 for it refurb or new.

I've had these since release, and I have to say that I love them.
I use them every day, sometimes all day.
I previously had the XM2s, so I was already familiar with them.
I suggest everyone who buys these look up a recommended equalizer level to get the best audio, though.
The stock and preset sound settings were not to my tastes, but messing with the equalizer a bit made them sound awesome.

This or the bang Olufsen that was recently featured. Looking to use them to help with my kids while I'm working.
If you are referring to the B&O Portal, unless you are someone who needs simultaneous audio coming from both Bluetooth and dongle, I'd go with these all the way. Gamers that want separate channels for chat and gameplay may find the Portals preferable, but these are likely superior in every other way. I gave my B&O Portals to my son when he went to college and kept the Sony XM4 for myself.

Get it from secondipity! I got mine a year ago and have been the best headphones I've owned over ear. Drawbacks are they get to warm for workouts and aren't rated for waterproof. Great sound quality and are better for plane rides or mowing lawn than the bose.

I bought these refurbished from ebay for $250 from a Frontpage deal before christmas and also bought the Costco beats deal that was the same price (but new). I only tried the two together for 15mins (so not really any extensive tests) but much preferred the mx5 (and returned the beats). I use this for trans-atlantic flights and have been amazed at the noise canceling, it is unbelievable!!

But for those that also have them, when you have them on your ears, and turned on but don't turn the sound canceling....it seems like they "pump in" the outside noise (I'd use the analogy of like listening to a sea shell) anyone else notice this? Definitely not a deal breaker but just....interesting

You're referring to Transparency mode? Isn't that what they're doing (pump in the sound), since the closed design blocks out sound even without ANC. I'd imagine that's what AirPod Pros are also doing. Though apple's transparency mode is much better.

So much this!

I love my refurb purchase of these, and having that 2 yr warranty puts my mind at ease (not bc my copy has issues, but bc peace of mind!)
Is the warranty through AllState? Piece of cake claims - I got a pair of Sony earbuds, had them for over a year and then when one earbud started losing its charge more rapidly I emailed them. Within a few days they mailed me a check for the full purchase amount of the earbuds... Like I used them for free for more than a year, pretty wild.

Yes, exactly--through AllState!
