Edit: the YouTube review linked before is for the Pro model, which was released 5 months ago! This slickdeal is for the non-Pro model, which has some improvements, some not, at a much lesser price. So sorry for my mistake.

Pro Model (vs this regular model)
- 2GB RAM (vs 1GB RAM with regular model)
- 854x480 resolution (Regular has 1280x720)
- No WiFi (Regular model DOES have WiFi)
- Amlogic A311D CPU (Regular has ARM quad-core 1.8GHz)
- 3 hours to charge (Regular charges in 2 hours)

Original comment: Retro Game Corps in depth review when it was $115 starting price https://youtu.be/X9wbPY5qf6o?si=rHu7fJ2Kq4hdPdVc

Tldw;
Pros:
+ feels retro
+ decent controls
+ good screen
+ Linux friendly
+ performance
+ community involvement (different firmware choices)

Cons:
- unfinished product (as of 5 months ago, I'm sure the firmware has been updated now)
- no WiFi or BT
- slow charging time (3 hours from 0-100%)
- faulty hardware (his speakers were blown out)
Sure, for $70 why the hell not
Gimme a $50 RGB30!

It looks like that link is for Russ' review of the unit with "Pro" also in its name that released in 2023 featuring the AMLOGIC 311D chipset (link [powkiddy.com]).
However, he has indicated via a Community post that he does have plans to put out a review for this one once he gets it in: https://www.youtube.com/post/Ugkx...IitrF6r3lq For instance, on the Pro, he noted no WiFi or Bluetooth; whereas with this new unit, Powkiddy lists that it will include that functionality. On the other hand, I think the slow charge time con may stick when it comes to this newer unit, though (the new unit only supports up to 2 Amp 5W charging per the specs section).

Hoping that this unit (the RGB10MAX3) isn't as mixed quality as the RGB10MAX3 Pro launch state was. Thanks for seeking to help out the community by providing more info. Repped Smilie

POWKIDDY stuff is so janky. I want to get an a12 (the mini arcade) because I can't find a better small arcade solution for the price. I'm just bracing myself for it to suck. I loved the RGB30 idea but the build quality is weak, software sucks and the charging is weird and fickle

I was thinking of jumping since it looks like a stretched version of the RGB30, but 16x9 on a retro handheld doesn't make much sense. Maybe for PSP, but for nearly every other system, 4:3 makes far more sense.

I feel the same way about the plastic they used for the X55. It's has a hollow, light plastic "toy" feel that makes it lightweight (a positive in my book); but lacks that more proper game console feel you get from other retro handhelds like the recent Anbernic devices (or a Nintendo handheld). Conversely, the Powkiddy X28 has pretty solid, much improved build quality in spite of that unit's reported issues with the stiff joysticks and sensitive D-Pad (some people don't mind it, others do). So I hope this unit will be closer to that (the X28) than the X55 in terms of materials used.

Don't get me wrong - it's not a deal breaker as I still very much enjoy playing with the X55 given its 5.5" screen. More a personal preference/nitpick. It's just that I notice I tend to handle my X55 with more caution than any other handheld I own because that light plastic makes me nervous about any accidental drops. I have an RGB30 ordered that actually should be arriving today according to tracking, so I'll be seeing what that console's about later on when I can get some free time.

You'll like it! the screen is awesome. The software is just buggy and annoying and I think the hardware is mediocre. I got it for $60 during their November sale so I can't complain for the price.

Does it come with any OS / software pre-installed? Which OS and emulator combo would y'all recommend for this?

Awesome, thanks Smilie I paid the same amount, so I hope I like it. Looking forward to some Gameboy / Gameboy Color-era Pokémon in 1:1 aspect ratio. I've actually grown to like JELOS (they used it on the X55 also); but can admit that I was not a big fan before I got accustomed to it.

There is no reason I should have an interest in this, but for some reason I might jump on board. I already have the following from Powkiddy X55, RBG10 Max 2, RGB30, & RGB20S. This has the same chipset as the X55 with a 5" screen instead of a 5.5" screen, both are 1280x720 IPS screens. The X55 also has 2GB of LPDDR4X RAM vs 1GB of LPDDR4.

The RGB30 also has the same chipset, but it has a 4" 720x720 IPS screen.

There are no reviews yet, as this is a pre-order and it doesn't seem any review units have been sent out. Powkiddy's naming scheme also makes it confusing as the RGB10Max 3 Pro was released last year and the RGB10Max3 seems like a "Pro" version when you compare them as the Pro doesn't have built in WiFi or bluetooth and a 5" 854x480 screen, but has 2GB or RAM and an Amlogic A311D.
