These really need significant amounts of direct light... they're tropical plants. So south-facing views ideally.

Don't spread lies! It's mildly toxic to cats and won't kill them. It causes diarrhea, vomiting and nausea. The flower and seeds are extremely toxic - not an issue most times because these will never flower in a home or produce seeds.

I have over 130 house plants, 70% are "toxic" to cats. My 5 cats leave them alone mostly but sometimes out of the blue they may chew on one. Will they throw up? Yup! Will they mess with it again, typically no.

If you don't want your animals throwing up or having a bad bowel movement, don't have houseplants.

Anyone know the scientific name for this specific plant. There are a bunch of different plants with this common name.

Heads up, this will straight up kill your cats and dogs if they eat it. Immediate vet care.
There are many different plants with the same name. Do you have a link to or a source saying this exact plant is deadly to pets?

Friends, I was wrong. This will not in fact straight up kill your pets. This will however, according to expert above, cause your pets to have violent diarrhea and vomiting. It is still recommended to take them to a vet, but you probably shouldn't worry about it or spread lies on the Internet.

I also have dozens of house plants, and this used to be one. If you're here advocating for house plants and cats, I'm with you. But I also don't want to see my cat in dismay or clean up after his mess that could have been avoidable by having the right plants.
