for $20 years ago. One guy taped a small flashlight on a Metabo 12" and made it work. A different model at Lowes claims to have the shadow line laser for $330 which sounds like a good deal.

No serious person would use the laser to cut anything precise. It might be helpful for "rough cuts" otherwise it's useless.
I had the hitachi 10 in inch version of this, man that was worst saw ever, too much flex, wierd mount, and iirc that whole close quarters side thing interfrred with certain crown cuts and you really gotta move the fence out of the way moreso iirc. 12 may be better and certainly hope metabo made the flex better...and well laser sucks.

Picked the above deal up, non sliding 12", back in 2012. Very accurate and clean cuts, still on the original blade going strong, probably best tool I own quality wise.
