Came across this at BH - maybe I am missing something but seems like a pretty decent deal for a 5G tablet with 10" screen from a name brand company. I am sure the specs are not super high, but its also a cheap price point. Curious anyones thoughts
I think it's pretty decent for the price. It wins over Amazon's Fire tablets because it runs vanilla Android. Keep in mind a few things in order to temper your expectations. 4GB memory is the minimum you want for Android. With this you'll have no issues once you're in the apps. However, moving between apps and through the menus will be a bit sluggish. The other issue is 32GB storage. That's fairly limiting in 2024. If you keep it to just a few apps you'll be fine. If you start adding games you'll need to add an SDCard for more storage. That will increase your cost. If you're willing to pay $70 more (less with trade-in) Samsung just introduced their Galaxy Tab A9+. This runs $219, comes with 8GB memory and 128GB storage. It doesn't have 5G. I know there are some other tablets that may be closer to the cost/specs with the TCL, but it's hard to beat Samsung's long term support and features.
The CPU is pretty good, so even with 4GB of RAM it will be faster then most other tablets. BUT 32GB is total storage???!!!
OK, know lets put things in perspective... you can buy a G99 CPU/GPU (not as good as this one) PLUS 8GB of RAM and 128GB hard drive and L1 Widevine Certified for $100.00 on Amazon.
