Varies on your driving experience. All by yourself and get hit with laser - it will alert you that you just got a ticket. On highways with traffic in front of you - really good chance to avoid a ticket.

Rural roads, you often have sheriffs sitting around corners or cruising with just radar. But yes, it primarily depends on whether cops in your area rely on laser or radar.

We are in South East MI and do a lot of highway driving.
Very rare to see an officer use laser here. Most are running K/KA and even rarer Either those with Pop/instant on. The R3 I have works amazing.

The latest updates do amazing job of filtering out vehicle radar systems and almost no false alerts. Up north on rural highways, I can pick up well over a mile away. Those cops are bored and playing on phones and leave their on baord radars running non-stop.

Even when there is laser, any traffic allows you to see brake lights and slow as needed.

This combined with waze has saved me countless tickets…I set cruise at 85-92 daily depending on traffic congestion.

At least with laser the cop needs a clear line of sight otherwise it won't work.

Most police use traditional radar nowadays. Still very viable. Police don't care much about catching every speeder. They just need to show production. It is important to lockout the false radar signatures from things like Dollar General so they don't alert. A few cars (Mazda or Honda maybe can't remember) will set them off. But, that still remind me to be focused on driving and conscious of my speed. A lot of highway patrol runs POP instant on radar that will not alert prior to an on unless you have a car ahead of you ( a "rabbit").

I live off an old rural highway that has been 55mph forever. I drive a car with above average braking and handling. I drive it at 70 sometimes. Even when I'm at the speed limit the radar detector reminds me to pay attention to my speed. Highway patrol gets very active a few times per year. I use a Uniden with Waze to avoid a dozen tickets per year. I slow down near driveways and entries to the road as my number one priority is others' safety. I feel more ethical doing this then seeing a dually lifted truck doing 55mph. I can stop faster and my vehicle weighs less than 3000lbs. so I don't have the momentum to kill unless someone pulls out at the last second in front of me.
