Depends I guess. I'm 41 years old and grew up playing a lot of these games. I own many of these games now. I've shown them to my kids. They're unimpressed. They're fun for me to take a trip down memory lane for nostalgia's sake, but I can't say they offer much replayability. Is that worth $20 to you? Only you can say.
On xbox you can also take that $20, buy developer mode and put emulators on your console which allows you not to just play these games but all older games you grew up with. Here's an easy tutorial
Except that downloading games you don't own is still illegal due to copyright infringement.
Except there's a few ways to legally own the roms. Did you know in steam they sell the Genesis collection, and if you dig through the folders it's basically just roms with a commercially available emulator. So technically you own them outright and you can prove it. Also plenty of games are considered abandoned ware since their original publishers no longer exists.
Sure. But that's not how the vast majority of people use emulation.
I don't agree. I suspect that 99% of the people use emulators are using them strictly to play homebrew games or legally made backups of games they already purchased. It's a few bad apples giving the rest of us a bad name.
At $40, it's overpriced. Sub-$20 is do-able. For me, the nostalgia of the Megaman games were the best part. And also I had never played Knights of the Round and discovered that I liked it.

This is why I tell people who try to flip these retro games for over inflated prices that time's a ticking because once our gen fizzles out the new era gamers will not care about the classics.
