The mid-torque is much better. Plenty of power and not so heavy to be an issue.
I have both, mechanic work, and I use the mid-torque 95% of the time. high torque is mostly for crank bolts and rusty suspension work.

That said, getting warranty work done may be hard/costly though.
Only few shops around since Home Depot stopped accepting warranty work.

It's been like that forever, where have you been, a little late to the party.

I do acknowledge the blunder. Ideally I should have jumped on a DCF900 deal that would have come out to $199. My mindset was try to spend as least as possible on a "just so I have it" tool. I was able to score a ridgid mid torque for under a $100 on a deal last year though.
I bought last gen high torque with one battery for 150 from DTO

Yea but most will not use it as it slows the rpms down and "feels" weaker and they still may apply to much. And does not change the much larger size/weight issue.
Its a great gun but not a everyday one. It collects dust most of the time in my tool box. But pays for itself when I need it.
