Wow, this is insane. Let me just start out by saying RAID is not a backup and you need to backup both new and refurbished drives.

$6.83 per GB may be an all-time low.
I've been using them for years and no issue
2018 model. These will definitely have 5+ years powered on. Pass.

Ultrastar HC550 (2020) and HC560 (2021) drives are worthwhile. The HC570s are too new and they dont have refurbs yet.

You do realize that they reset SMART data?

You should be running Disk-Filltest or Badblocks on these

What tools do you recommend to test these on Windows 11?

I received mine yesterday. It was manufactured in April 2019. The SMART data may have been wiped as it showed 0 hour of running time on it. I did a quick scan yesterday and found no error. The scanning for bad blocks was started last night but it was only 70% finished this morning. So far I have not seen any error yet.

can anyone chime on the noise? not sure if I'm just use to SSDs, but when it reads and writes on both drives that i bought, it's quite noisy. One is nosier than the other. when it's idle, occasionally it would make knocking/clicking/ticking sounds as well. I'm not sure if that's normal.

Update; my drives are making grinding noises like crazy. Definitely not a normal sound. Sadly, my only choice is to return them, and then buy something new.
