I've been using a 60x24 desk for almost 4 years now, no complaints. I have my monitor on an arm and have it only a couple of inches off the wall though.

under desk wire racks from amazon, they clamp down onto the desk, so no screws needed.

I also purchased a usb-a splitter so that way mouse, keyboard, and other peripherals are only 1 wire instead of 3+

Finally get a wire wrap for the cables coming out of your PC, if you get a white colored one its hardly visible

Just a reminder to keep an eye out for local companies (usually startups) shutting down that are liquidating their office furniture. We picked up an Uplift 30x72in desk for about this much last month.

Also, on topic, cable trays work great for hiding the mess underneath these.
