Best Mario Kart alternative so far on Switch in my opinion is Sonic Team Racing. Get the double pack that also include Sonic Mania for $25 or less. Crash Team Racing has unacceptable load times.
Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 is also better than expected. Skip the original and 3rd game though.
Currently playing on PlayStation since it was the free game this month.
It's a very different game. Lots of races to move along but a lot of weird / fun side missions.
Vehicle transforms depending on terrain. It's okay to smash into things most of the time.
After seeing it in action at a store display, it's some open world mixed with racing. Kinda reminded me of Diddy Kong Racing on N64 if that matters to anyone. This is a great price so I jumped on it. The map I saw looked like fun.

I bought the original Nickelodeon Kart Racers on Switch and thought it was just ok. I wish the team behind Mod Nation Racers would make a new version. That's my all-time favorite kart racer.
And yet the graphics seem kind of… blocky.
