This guy didn't need to write a whole science paper on this…
Increased humidity reduces static electricity/shock. This is why we get more static shocks in the winter when the air is dry and the charged particles can move freely.
I had the glass version of this. It was nice until a little plastic piece that ejects the grounds broke and caused the grinder to jam in less than a year. Since it was still under warranty I contacted Bodum support, which was less than useless: they demanded no less than video evidence of it malfunctioning, and when I provided it to them they completely stopped responding to me. Terrible company.
I hate it. Had for a few years, so much static. Gets grinds everywhere. Also not a "conical" burr grinder. I have the conical that has a glass container for grinds and it is much better.
I've had that one for a year and a half, my aunt gave it to me slightly used. I've used it nearly every day and it's still trucking along. The only static cling that occurs is with the dust that you don't want in your brew anyway, so it's a feature, not a bug! It really doesn't even need that much attention for cleaning, I open it up and there's virtually nothing in there, it all goes in the grounds container.
Guys, please check out the ridiculous Bodum's return policy. No returns if you ever use this machine. 10% restocking fee plus you are responsible for the return shipping fee. Go to Amazon or Costco to buy it instead to avoid this big risk of return later on.
I used the Bodum burr grinder about a year and recommend against it. It seemed to grind ok but the outside plastic on the black matte finish got sticky and gross after 1 year. I got a deal on the Oxo conical grinder and while it is taller/bigger, it is otherwise better in every way. It still looks like a nice kitchen appliance, grinds a little quicker, not as loud (but it's still loud). I think most recent deals are around $68-70 for the Oxo and it's definitely worth the extra $35. I have been using the Oxo 2x/day now for 4 years.
I ended up bringing in the Bodum to the office to share with my colleagues. Not sure how often it was used but it did end up breaking after another year. Then someone brought in the same Oxo I have... still going strong.
edit: just realized mine was NOT the one here but the glass catcher one mentioned in comment above.
Yes, the grinder works well but that weird finish is impossible to clean.

My opinion is more, if you buy a $1000 espresso machine and it does not have an integrated grinder, buy something from Baratza

I've been using the oxo one for years now. No issues. Not sure about this one.
Try distilled water and a microfiber. I've found that to clean things surprisingly well.
