what do you mean by they unlocked after service was activated? Did you mean you didn't have to wait 12 months?
That is correct. Told them I was traveling abroad and needed to use the eSIM. Reiterated that I brought my number and had already paid for and activated my 12-month plan with no intention of leaving. Told them I only needed the eSIM unlocked, not the physical SIM (knowing full well that the phone is either locked or not, it's not specific to the slot).

Since it's prepaid, I don't understand why it isn't unlocked right after you begin service. They already have their money. Seems strange to me.
Well the whole point is to get you on the service so you'll be tempted to keep it after the year

Last December I got a deal on the 7 Pro. I ended up selling the phone only on eBay to recover the cost and yielded $60 profit. I used my 15gb plan for free hahaha. I normally pay $262 every year, but this year I got free through the 7 Pro deal.

Man I should have done like yours porting to Tello 1st if I have known. What I did was I port my Google voice number into Mint to take advantage of 12 months total and port out my Mint Mobile number into Google voice. What a mess and it cost $23 total ($3 port in & $20 port out). You sure Tello costs only $5?
Yes, two $5 options: 1GB data only or no data and 100 minutes talk w/ unlimited text. No ETF or porting charges and free eSIM.

I got the December deal for 7 Pro and 5 gb data for $180. Damn phone doesn't unlock.

Using it as media device for now.

This is a better deal with Pixel 8.
I tell them I'm traveling and want to buy local sim card. It never fails me

Do Mint offer deals on Samsung phones or iPhones like this?

Did this with an awesome Pixel 4a deal a few years back. They just shipped an unlocked phone and a prepaid sim to pop in. Sold the sim and kept the phone. Are all Pixels not unlocked like they used to be?
The Pixel I got from Spectrum in December was locked right out of the box.

This is tempting... We are traveling to China in a couple months and I was already looking at switching over to Mint as well. The pixel was definitely an option although would have preferred the Samsung s24... Wondering if I should just jump on this deal at this point, both for myself and my wife...

btw if we are intending to request an unlock due to internation travel, does it matter whether we choose physical vs esim?

Did the 7 pro deal last time and ported to mint. Service has been HORRIBLE.
Did you can mint mobile. They may need to reset your SIM card. They will also check your APN SETTINGS.

I had the exact problem with text messages and resisting the SIM card and APN SETTINGS worked for me

The data signal did drop to EDGE occasionally, but a quick toggle on/off of Airplane mode would bring 5G back. Love the phone though.

Tried speaking to customer service a few times to help me out. They definitely tried but service has still been really bad. Unfortunately. I'm in this for a year but may need to just cut it in the middle if it's this bed the whole time

keep trying to contact mint mobile and they might just unlock the phone. Keep telling them you have issues.

I agree with you. Mint isn't holding up their part of the deal .

I called Mint Mobile 2 weeks ago to ask for the info of my number to port out and they offered me 2 options. For a 6 month plan, they offered 3 months free plus paid for 3 months and for 1 year plan, they offered 4 months free plus paid for 8 months. I decided to nope and port out to Google Voice. I believe it is a good offer for 9 years with them for this number, but I already got a different number with them from the December Pixel 7 Pro deal.
