It has 4GB eMMC storage on board.

Which means that it does have a finite life, and can't be replaced.

Whether that's a factor in practical usage depends on what the chip is rated for, and how much recording is done.

With Ring jacking up their price for users on the lowest plan, I've started looking into alternatives.

They all seem to have small compromises in some fashion, and what I dislike about the Eufy is that it isn't compatible with existing built-in chimes. I don't want to rely on a plug-in.

Also takes a leap of faith to buy from a company that obfuscated, and resisted acknowledging their privacy lapses, before finally coming clean [theverge.com].

Been using this since 2020 and no issues. Survives MN winters/summers, good buy in my book.

According to its own graphic… this won't save files "inside the house." Which I guess means it only stores inside the device and not a hub.

That's a pretty major security flaw IMO.

I have this and the 4gb model and I highly recommend buying the larger memory ones. I think Best buy has 32gb model. 4gb is not enough. I literally get less than a week of data

Why is this a frontpage deal when the ring camera deal I posted for the same discounted price, which is a far superior doorbell camera, got no love?

Eufy ring cams do not last, the software is slow by the time you connect to the camera to talk to someone at your door the person is gone and the nightvision is awful.
Far Superior ??? Ha ha

Let's see: for a standalone single unit:

4yrs ago

$60 w/ no subscription fees, excellent video, local storage acess

is better than

$100 plus $30yr for a subscription to store/access videos

Today

$60 w/ no subscription fees, excellent video, local storage access

is better than

$60 plus $40yr for a subscription to store/access videos

Agree, the best buy model also does 24/7 'loop" recording, which this does not have. The imperfect person detection isn't a problem when you have that, which is why we upgraded to the 32gb one.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong because I don't see anyone else in the thread complaining about this, but I'm really disappointed with my eufy doorbell camera. It commonly does not record things. I have the sensitivity turned all the way up because there was an animal that attacked a bird nest on my door, but it captured none of it since it wasn't human. I get alerts all the time. I would like for it to record every movement and only alert me when there is a human detected, but this is not an option. Even though, I get alerts all the time because it decides randomly it sees something when nothing is there, it still sometimes misses when a person drops something off on my porch. Or, it will record someone coming to my house, but not capturing when they leave an hour later. Also, when it does record, it only records for a short period of time. If someone is at my door for 2 minutes, it only records the first 30 seconds of the interaction.

Is this a good video doorbell with no subscription, currently have a ring but with them jacking up the pricing, figured I might as well change it out.

It's not bad. I had no issues. But remember. This is from 2019. Newer cameras has more feature.

As soon as I get a new one. I'll be retiring this and my old nest cam.

If that's all you want it for, this is perfect and can't be beat.

If you feel you might want to add other security devices and connect to a central hub, in the future, get a more updated Eufy device.

I also have this doorbell for years and recommend it because there's no subscription fees. I also paid twice as much on sale.

I've been very happy with it besides the AI detection which works about 95% of the time. the other 5% it either completely misses the person/event or detects something that isn't there just under the "right" condition. It also detects car wheels as human under certain conditions (once a month), minor annoyance but it's a steal at this price. You can also share the doorbell video access with other users like your spouse.
