Anyone see a way to sign up with just email?

I'm going to pass if they only allow Facebook and Google logins...
Just make up a dummy Google account if you don't want to use your real email. Google, Apple, Facebook, Yahoo and Microsoft are the top data miners, they also kill it in the ad game revenue, which is likely how this service is free. Dummy account is the way to go.

When I used PayPal Checkout there was a note at the top that TextNow was being added to my autopay/subscription payments for "easier checkout next time" which would allow them to charge PayPal as they like...you can remove its privileges however, but that's a PITA
Thanks for this. I went into my paypal settings and removed them. There were also about 10 other merchants I removed which I never even knew that they had setup autopay.

Small question for people who got the Sim card: I currently have the app so all the messages are on it. If I buy the Sim Card, would the messages appear on my default messages app instead?

No.
You will have to use the TextNow app to make calls and send/receive messages, with or without the Sim card. The ads are in the app, that's how they make money to support free service for you.

Have this in my spare phone for over a year. Free calls and texts with no WiFi required is nice. I make a call every week or so to keep my number. Only issue is I cannot seem to be able to delete old text messages. Even if I log into the website and delete them they mysteriously return as if I'd never touched them. Is this normal?

Device checker always says something wrong. Any clue? Thanks.
I tried the IMEI's of two new iPhone SE3's in T-Mobile's IMEI checker yielding:

This device is fully compatible with T-Mobile's network technology.

Duh, ya think Apple would make any iPhone that didn't include T-Mobile compatibility?

I put the same IMEI's into TextNow's IMEI checker, and got:

This device is not compatible...

TextNow's IMEI checker is pathetic.

BTW: I have a TextNow SIM in one of the two iPhone SE3's. It works fine!
I sure hope I never have a problem, and I never have to chat with a TextNow
agent, who will tell me that they can't solve my problem because, according to
their IMEI checker, my device is incompatible...

Ugh. That company is a joke. The "we will refund you after you cancel your credit card dispute, but you still will never receive a refund" company. I'm surprised they're still in business.

There's an option to sign up with email.

I was able to order a sim over a month ago using my existing TN acct. Now when i tried using a different email different name same credit card same shipping address they blocked my IP and everything else associated with it. Old acct still active. Not sure how long it'll stay active.

Very slimy business. I hope google and others start offering ad supported free service.

No. After you activate/use the SIM, you can use the service for free when you don't have WIFI access, through T-mobile cellular network.

How does that work? I can't figure it out. I don't see textnow option in the shortcut app.
In Apple shortcuts app:

1. click automation on the bottom
2. Click plus icon on top right
3. Time of day
A. Choose time (anytime)
B. Monthly
C. Run immediately -> notification when run
4. Click next, then choose Message
5. Edit message (I just put "test") then add recipients.

No Wi-Fi needed

You can make calls and text anywhere, free. Just no data, that's extra and must be added to plan in order to work.
