Wouldn't the price of the item increase before actually getting the extra 20% off from Amazon? Seems like you have to send in the traded in item first. Then Amazon gives you the trade in % off which , I assume, might happen when price of item is already increased

No they send you the 20% coupon instantly after submitting the trade in.

Not everyone gets the 20% coupon instantly. Every trade in I've tried for the past few years requires me to send in the item first which is useless because then the sale will be over. The only way around this is to send in a trade-in and then wait and hope there's a sale before your trade-in period expires.

Not sure what it is now but when I did it a couple years ago I remember it being a 2 or 3 month time frame where you could use the 20% discount after they evaluated your item.

The 20% and 5 dollar gift card was instant for me. HOWEVER, you can only do this on 1 echo device per month maybe? I just tried to do another and it stated I'm not eligible for another 20% off until March 21st.
