I think it's their product line for corporate users, think about Thinkpad (well, just from HP). Should be solid. Definitely better than Envy, Inspiron, or Pavilion

Better to actually read before posting.
They're not even the same models.

Do other people have "some settings are managed by your organization"? I tried to remove the network id under system properties and it doesn't take. Paranoid about big brother watching.

Also have HP Wolf Security installed and some browser extension. Did people have that and just remove it?

Rule 1 of buying prebuilts. Erase the installed OS and reinstall from scratch using, sourcing windows installer media iso obtained directly from MS.

From what I can recall of briefly playing with the installed windows - it appeared to be a customized install - some elements were missing, like the microsoft store. Likely modified for the original intended buyer.

Do a clean install of Windows 11 OS and it becomes a non-issue

These were for Amazon AWS, and for whatever reason the order was cancelled or these were old "new" stock. AWS employees are given 2 options for a computer: macbook or elitebook. I presume this was the option in2021 and they had a lot leftover.

Currently have a T490 with warranty expiring soon. Can anyone here compare the T490 keyboard to this one? Also what type of battery life are you seeing on normal use? I mostly just use excel and video calls.

I assume the t490 is the same as the t480. In that case, I can actually answer your question. Theyre pleasantly comparable. The HP keys are much more crisp feeling with sharp corners; the keys dont have those scalloped "smiley" curves to them like they got on thinkpads. They key travel is comparable, however. The distance between the keys is almost identical. you cant run your fingers across the keyboard as nicely as on the thinkpad, but my typing speed was not affected.

battery life is quite good, and its much faster than the t480 and 90, since you are getting more cores and decent built in graphics. You can also reuse thinkpad usb-c docks with it (install the drivers first). It will run all day if youre just doing video and excel (the exact same two things my wife does on it). She charges it maybe every 1.5 days and carries the machine to the basement (Away from the kids) or to a panera.

Have not used the laptop much but notice the battery drain seems quick and when the laptop is powered off it will drain battery. Updated the BIOS, turned off fast boot. Problem still persists. Know when the laptop is shut down it will go into a low power mode, this seems normal for most laptops. Anyone have a solution to completely shut it down?

I do not have this issue.

First step is to get the warranty reset to 3 yrs from purchase date at Micro Center

Once that is done, contact HP Support and go from there. If it's a battery issue, they will make good on it. The warranty support for Elitebooks is very good

The laptop will go into an extended off state if left powered off for a certain amount of time. It will not turn back on unless you plug it into a wall first. The battery is fine. I'm not sure what you call this extended off state. No need to leave it plugged in, just needed to take it out of this extended off state.

Check your warranty status, FYI everyone

SRG team updated the warranty to the full 3 yrs from the purchase date at Micro Center back last year when we had this deal.

Today, it's showing 2 out of 4 of my laptops now are expired despite the warranties having been updated back during this deal (and have the confirmations).
They retroactively terminated the warranties it looks like

Yes, I emailed the SRG email today. Received the auto reply that they received the submission, so hopefully this gets resolved next week.

The batteries are no longer holding a charge on 3 out of 4 of them, hence the reason why I logged into the HP support account to initiate warranty repairs, only to find out 2 out of the 4 are saying warranty expired and both of those serials have the kaput batteries.

I really hope this gets resolved

I checked mine again this morning. Yesterday it was showing expired, today showing the original 3 years (through 2027-02-26). Glitch?
