That is its own rabbit hole as some don't mind cold wet water splashed up their privates but many would prefer it to be at least "cool"/"warmed"...so now you're paying a bit more for such. OK, to do that you need an outlet nearby as running a cable is stupid. WELL, everyone isn't a handy-person, so now....

....Easily hundreds spent just to take a short cut of cleaning your areas and you STILL will need a square or two of toilet paper as again, few want that feeling of wet water near their privates. That still leads back to what TP you want touching yourself.

OH, are you like me and have multiple toilets? Congrats - you now have multiple increased costs. Got children? Easy to explain how a bidet works but hard in practice to ensure they're sitting in the right position make it work, and for how long it should run, etc. Be ready for wet shirts and backs and many sit closer on the toilet than back like an adult....unless you got one of those that also programs itself to adjust to the child's sitting position (which costs hundreds itself)

All of this to type that short hand comment of "get a bidet!" can look silly and short-sighted

NOW, if you're the type of person who bought those $20 attachments and you just spray and stand up....that's cool. That's not going to work for most of us though, chief.

Reading through this thread has wiped me out. But toilet paper prices are just something I roll with. As long as the deal is reasonable and not crappy, I go with it.

I bought some. It was pretty good.

A plus for some may be that it's at least partially made from recycled paper.

This post deserves reps and a front page honor. I've never bothered to figure out the cost per square.

OP went from saying "Two ply, does the job, and the stuff isn't terrible" in their rating system and then went on to list Walmart's Generic TP. That stuff is bottom of the barrel TP. No reason whatsoever anyone should ever consider this unless you're looking to TP a house or something.
Bingo. Plus excluding Cottonelle because it's technically a 1-ply is a crime.

If you have a Wegmans nearby, they regularly offer digital coupons, and in the past have been cheaper than Walmart at better quality.

Per others' comments on not all two-ply being equal, there should be an additional metric regarding the weight of the TP like they do with printing paper. So it would be $/sf/lb (or some SI unit equivalent). That way you can make sure your fingers don't rip through two-plys. Unfortunately, I don't believe there's easy tests for softness/surface roughness that can be advertised on the packaging.

I'm a Cottonelle Ultra Clean user. With Amazon Subscription it's $0.0239
1-ply, but thick and soft. Top rated for Septic systems, so I will continue to use it even if it costs a bit more. The Walmart stuff is never in stock at my store anyway.

Adding fuel to the fire...Also a huge bidet fan, I haven't used toilet paper since buying in 2020, but others in my household do. I got a nice heated one, with a warm air dry. Brondell Swash CL1500. They go on sale for $200 pretty regularly. The math works out to a huge lifetime savings, for my family I spend close to that in TP in a year.

Buying tp is not a household chore I do, so forgive me for being behind the times...
When did toilet paper become "bath(room) tissue"? In my mind, there's only tissue for the face and would never refer to something to wipe the buttocks. What's wrong with "toilet paper" anyway?

Im a quailty vs. quanity type of guy. If the quality is cheap and the quantity is high, then i use more anyway. The last roll of charmin o got from costco has been good. Only using 2 to 3 sheets vs kirklands a lot.

Walgreens Super Soft [walgreens.com], $20, 706.8SF $0.0283 per SF - the calculation does not look correct.
Should be $10 instead of $20 for 2 packages 706.8SF. I just bought 2 packages last week.
