The Lowe's near me (zip: 19335) had Irwin & Craftsman hand tools on clearance; it seems to be in-store only - YMMV. Specifically, there were wrenches, pliers, & locking pliers.

Some examples:

Irwin Vise-Grips 7" Locking Pliers (item 1077294) - $5.17, was $14.98
Irwin Vise-Grips 10" Locking Pliers (item 1068424) - $4.52, was $17.98
Irwin Vise-Grips 6" & 10" Locking Plier Set (item 1068426) - $4.52, was $17.98
Craftsman 10" Adjustable Demo Wrench (item 1071674) - $5.72, was $22.98
Irwin Vise-Grips 9" Locking Pliers (item 1077293) - $10.17, was $16.98
Craftsman 6" Long Nose Pliers (item 1071664) - $7.98, was $9.98
Craftsman Quick 6" Adjustable Wrench (item 2510507) - $6.77, was $16.98
And more...

Happy hunting.

That demo Craftsman wrench was super gimmicky up close which is likely why it's being clearanced.

A lot of this stuff was on the back clearance wall in the store.
Hey, at least they admit that the best use for a cheap adjustable wrench is as a hammer.
OP here, you can thank SD staff for that... It seems when they move posts to the frontpage they edit them to have a similar appearance. If you click through to the forum post you can see the original subject as "Lowe's In-store Clearance - Craftsman & Irwin Pliers, Wrenches, & Vise-Grips - from $4.52 - YMMV." Additionally, I listed the zip code and another YMMV for good measure.

Irwin is OK and so is craftsman. These aren't trash tools. I'm just saying that for a tiny bit more and a coupon, one can get better quality Taiwanese tools from harbor freight.

Now, if these were Channellock and double this price, I'd be all over it.
No, I understand what you're saying, I'm saying Irwin is one of the best tools for value generally at their MSRP. Yes, brands have hits and misses so maybe for your experience, the specific HF tools beat Irwin when they are both on sale, I'm not invalidating it. But Irwin locking pliers are great already, and at these clearance prices, I can't see any tool beating it in terms of value that you'll find. Whether or not it's worth it for someone like you to drive to Lowe's to see if it's in stock there is another story. My 2 cents.

What brands do you have in mind? I do like some Tekton and Gearwrench

Completely agree! I had that wrench in hand and put it back. I just don't see myself using it in the way they advertise. Seems like an As Seen on TV product lol

I keep a small tool bag in the house for quick household tasks and a hammer barely fits. I'm seriously thinking of buying this just to replace it and the adjustable wrench in the bag. Looks perfect for hanging small photos and the like.

Get an stubby hammer xD it sounds like it suits your needs

I've learned to act fast on clearance tools at Lowes. Several years ago found some clearance Cresent Brand adjustable wrenches and bought a 6 and 8 inch. Went home, looked them up and when I found out the original price and immediately went back to buy more. Alas, all gone.

Today, found Craftsman 6" adjustable, an 8" adjustable and a 8" quick adjustable.
Total price was $14.08 including tax. That's less than the regular price of any single one of them.

I might use them, might give them away to family or friends.

Then by the time christmas came around an your parents got your first bike you learned that adjustable wrenches are a scam an youll strip the bolts on everything which pretty much destroys a lot of stuff. Now if you were gonna resell on Ebay to some kid about to learn... .

Showing OOS on brickseek for all those items near me. I wonder if it's accurate
BS hasn't been "what it used to be" a few years back.

I'm not certain, but I strongly suspect that Higher Ups at the Big Box stores were getting complaints from CSMs about folks demanding products BS said we're in inventory …. and that prompted them to cut BS off from access and/or to change how they managed Clearance items in their individual systems.

Unfortunately: If you want Accuracy, ya gotta go and check it out yourself, these days :/

The latest screw-in wall anchors work better than the hammer and nail for hanging pictures etc. Practically no way they'll be popping out and coming down in its own, so super safe picture hanging. (Assuming you secure the picture to the anchors, not just hang.)
Great for earthquake areas, kids rooms, etc.

The ones that were on clearance at my store were different models. It just varies by store what they decide to clearance probably based on inventory idk

You do you but I usually at least 1/2" x 3 1/2 lag screws to secure all my pictures. If it's heavy I use liquid nail around the edges too.
