Great family tent. I've had it for 3 years and it has kept us dry in some heavy downpours. The closet is dumb but the tent is well constructed and holds up to my 4 kids trying to break it and everything else I own.

My friend who was brand new to camping got this tent last year per my suggestion and it was truly a quick pitch, good quality tent, color was bright & vibrant that we were able to locate it from far and beyond...it does comes with a closet to kind of store your stuff like bags and packs but it was confusing (at least initially) while pitching the tent as none of my other tents had that feature.
When it comes to tents, reduce 2 persons from the capacity when figuring out how many people may fit; so this one can fit 5-6 people pretty well. I personally take 50% off the capacity if I want to sleep comfortably with camping-cots and stuff etc.

From the looks of the pictures the closet doesn't have a mesh ceiling
so go easy on The Blazing Saddle Beans around the campfire.

Would the closet work as an adult changing room? Or is it a bit too short?

I have this tent also and love it. It cost me 179.00 in 2020. We have used it more than 10 times and it has been easy to put up, durable and easy to break down. I love the closet feature. All our gear goes in there. Even has a rail to hang wet items

Maybe for the kids; but definitely not for adults unless one is <5 ft or so and it's not too wide may be 2 ft or so…

Thanks for this tent. I have had the Coleman sundome for years and the poles broke last time plus I wanted something bigger since my kids are getting bigger. Would this be absurd/overkill with 3 or 4 people? (1 adult plus 2-3 kids)

I had a similar sized one that was perfect for 2 adults and 1 child, plenty of room to move around with a queen and twin air mattress for what it's worth.

I have had this tent since 2017, purchased it on a Slickdeal for $98. Price really hasn't gone up too much! I don't camp that often (maybe 2 times per year), and this tent has held up great. Easy to setup and take down. I use a queen blow up mattress and it leaves a little walking room on both sides, with a small sleeping area down by our feet for 1 kid. I laugh when it says 8 person, but I think all tents are rated for more than what is practical. The door is nice, but the little closet I don't get much use out of. Would buy this Tenaya again if I needed a tent.
