Business Name: HOTSPOT TECH HK INDUSTRIAL LIMITED
has only 70 feedback ratings in the last year and 565 total. well below SD minimums but the rules don't apply to Paid SD Staff Influencers. an actual community member wouldn't have been allowed to post this.
majority of recent reviews are Paid Vine Voice.
Dozens of reviews pumped in the last couple weeks.
many of the non Vine Voice reviews seem a little too good to be believed (very flattering photos, typical got the product to promote it type)
Add in this being promoted by SD...so I'd take this post with a grain of salt.
"Frontpage" in half an hour with twenty something votes.
maybe it's a good deal/item, but it definitely seems to be using all the tricks to get shilled.
a quick Google image search shows the same thing being sold under multiple brands/sellers but this deal price does seem to be the cheapest I saw
As long as you don't have a third party dock from pre-2019 or a Switch on firmware version 5.0 or less (they're on version 17 last I checked), this is a non-issue.
It's important to remember that this was Nintendo's issue, as they didn't use USB-IF standardization with their charge controller.
The third party docks just got thrown under the bus because apparently Nintendo is infallible among journalists.

Edit: I take that back! According to the manual, the dock can be used in dock only mode too, meaning you can leverage the USB 3.1 type C port for faster speeds with a small USB hub or whatnot! That makes more sense than having to use the USB-C port ALONG with the HDMI cable just to do video out.

Did that turn out to not be true? Did none of the third-party docks have their own PD issues?
