has only 70 feedback ratings in the last year and 565 total. well below SD minimums but the rules don't apply to Paid SD Staff Influencers. an actual community member wouldn't have been allowed to post this.

majority of recent reviews are Paid Vine Voice.
Dozens of reviews pumped in the last couple weeks.
many of the non Vine Voice reviews seem a little too good to be believed (very flattering photos, typical got the product to promote it type)
Add in this being promoted by SD...so I'd take this post with a grain of salt.
"Frontpage" in half an hour with twenty something votes.

maybe it's a good deal/item, but it definitely seems to be using all the tricks to get shilled.
a quick Google image search shows the same thing being sold under multiple brands/sellers but this deal price does seem to be the cheapest I saw

Nintendo released a firmware update that fixed this issue a long time ago.

As long as you don't have a third party dock from pre-2019 or a Switch on firmware version 5.0 or less (they're on version 17 last I checked), this is a non-issue.

It's important to remember that this was Nintendo's issue, as they didn't use USB-IF standardization with their charge controller.

The third party docks just got thrown under the bus because apparently Nintendo is infallible among journalists.

The difference in price is due to the multiple power options. This is the maximum power output of the charger/dock. The switch would be perfectly fine with 37W. For other systems such as a steam deck one would probably want the 65W version.

does anyone know if you can use one of these with an HDMI splitter? I can't find reviews indicating whether someone has or not

I'm intrigued by this, so I am grabbing 2 of them. Getting a 65W for myself with the use of my steamdeck and a 36 W for my nephew and his N Switch. Hope this works well with both!

I got the 65W in white that just came in today. It's almost as small as my 65W charger for my first Gen Galaxy Book Pro 360a(which isn't GaN)! Very solid device and the cable it comes with is a lot more high quality, thicker gauge than I anticipated. I thought the USB port was gonna be USB 3.0 since they literally have it in the USB-IF's standardized blue color, but I didn't read the specs close enough I guess haha. This makes the perfect dock for something like Samsung Dex with a wireless mouse/keyboard adapter. Just don't plan on using this with the switch, steam deck, or other devices and think about connecting a gigabit Ethernet adapter or something since it'll be too slow for that. Other than that, this is my new favorite charger!

Edit: I take that back! According to the manual, the dock can be used in dock only mode too, meaning you can leverage the USB 3.1 type C port for faster speeds with a small USB hub or whatnot! That makes more sense than having to use the USB-C port ALONG with the HDMI cable just to do video out.

I bought the 65w. We will see how it goes but 25 bucks for a USB c charger and cable plus dock sounds like a steal as long as its not complete trash.

I bought this last time it was on sale for the same price. Great with my steam deck.

I bought the 36w one last year. Brought it with me on a work travel week, it had a USB port on it, and I figured I'd use this to also charge my iphone. It does not charge an iphone, which I found weird to me.

I remember there being an analysis that showed the USB PD implementation for one of the early third-party docks was buggy. They monitored the PD protocol and the output voltage and showed that the output voltage provided by the third party dock wasn't properly updated in response to the PD negotiation.

Did that turn out to not be true? Did none of the third-party docks have their own PD issues?

i bought one of these previously to use my switch and steam deck in another room but it seems to only pass through stereo sound. i have 7.1 speakers but no matter what i tried i could only get 2.0 from this source. i moved the Nintendo switch dock there to test and surround sound immediately started working. other than that the dock worked fine but for me this wasn't good enough to use

Will this work for a Macbook? The 65W option of course. I'm mainly looking to bring one device for both charger and HDMI output.

OLED works in the original dock. No reason why this wouldn't work for it as well.

Cool. I'm just looking for something to use as a travel dock at a hotel or whatever for the kids so I don't need to break down the setup in the basement.
