Lol who's talking about congress...

Steam has cheap games, and console stores regularly match those prices. The platforms compete with each other.
steam does seem to get dirt cheap prices, PlayStation Nintendo and Xbox do not However.

The core issue is nobody supporting their local mom & pop stores so that they can grow and become a competitor large enough to overthrow them. But people are short-sighted, and absolutely love to flame things because hear something is bad. And the echo chamber just keeps repeating...
Mom and Pop charge more and pay less for trades. This is a deal forum. Is this the best deal on trades?

Maybe it's worth a few less $ if you don't have the time to deal with FB marketplace.

But my real comment - every time I get GS credit I have a lot of trouble spending it, mostly due to wanting one game and then having to pay their high shipping which kills the deal every time since the value is never over their free ship barrier.

Their stores around here usually don't have what I want in stock and have become increasingly difficult to get to as they close locations.

Nintendo has to get on a Switch 2 very quick. An Internet connection and a 60$ mig switch give anyone access to every game made in a few days (no online play).
I'm trading all my single player switch games in. I think the market is going to tank.

What's a $60 mug Switch?

Also the used game market is kind of thriving since the pandemic

You talk like removing GameStop out of the equation would still allow for games to remain physical and sold on marketplace at a reasonable price.

If GameStop goes away, soon Target or Best Buy will be next, then another, and then we're stuck with digital only where each platform sets their price and abides by their version of "fair market value". We all assumed going digital would benefit the consumer because it costs less for platforms to do so, and yet here we are still seeing record high digital prices for physical games that become dirt cheap six months to a year after release.
And with no way to resell or share your digital copy

The Mig Switch is a switch cartridge with a micro sd card slot built into it, similar to an R4 card for DS games back in the day. For those who sail the high seas, you could put 1 TB of games on that single cart and as long as you never connected your Switch to the Internet again, you'd have mostly free offline Switch gaming to your hearts content.

The risk is if that Switch ever goes online again and when Nintendo sees 2 people online with the same unique serial ID cart, the Nintendo account ban hammer likely comes down on both accounts, even if the person who backed it up to the Internet in the first place was doing it for ethical, videogame preservation reasons.

to each their own, but the only reason i'd buy a switch is for the online. otherwise i would emulate switch on PC

Buy via EBay, Amazon, FB marketplace, etc. Just look a little bit and deals are all over the place. It's not perfect, but I'd rather deal with human than use GS. Either way, just dig a little bit and find the best deal for you.

I know, right? Massive losses and they blame a random person for their own stupidity in buying stock on a near dead Game store.

Just don't buy any hardware or accessories with that credit. Tried to return a headset that was uncomfortable and was told they no longer accept returns, only exchanges.

Lots of places to buy physical media online, gamestop needs to be relegated to the dustbin of history.
Your return was probably rejected because the headset was opened & used. If it was still new, they would have offered you a refund instead of just an exchange.
