Maybe if it's $1000. This is still a regular M2 chip, not M2 Pro. Not a deal imo.

If we select 512gb option and 8gb ram, it's 999$.. so that's not a deal too?? I was thinking M2 processor is still a good one and wanted to upgrade from M1 Air to this one.. mainly used for photo editing.. any inputs pls??

There's a link on the product page that says $700 off with my Best Buy plus. Which has a $49.99/year membership fee.

If you're just surfing the internet, watch movies, or light work; keep your M1 Air. You won't notice any difference. The M3 or any M Pro series processor would be the upgrade you want.

This is the old form factor, with all the complaints that come with it. Find an M1 pro MacBook pro (I hate this naming scheme) for a better screen, keyboard and overall experience.

This is marked as "latest model" which is not true. The 13-inch MacBook Pro M2 was discontinued back in the fall.

It's mainly used for photo editing and wanted extra storage space..

Here is a direct link [bestbuy.com] to the laptop w/ the specs mentioned by the original poster.
Note that while the laptop is named the MacBook Pro, the processor itself is the regular M2 variety. Based on my research, this model was originally released in June 2022.

Specs:
  • Apple M2 8-Core Processor (4x Performance + 4x Efficiency)
  • 13.3" 2560x1600 500 nits Retina IPS Display
  • 24GB Unified Memory
  • 1TB Solid State Drive
  • 10-Core Integrated GPU
  • Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax + Bluetooth 5.0
  • 720p Facetime HD Camera
  • Backlit Magic Keyboard
  • Force Touch Trackpad + Touch Bar + Touch ID Sensor
  • Ports:
    • 2x Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports
      • Charging
      • DisplayPort
      • Thunderbolt 3 (up to 40Gb/s)
      • USB 4 (up to 40Gb/s)
      • USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to 10Gb/s)
  • macOS
  • 58.2 Whr Lithium-Polymer Battery w/ 67W USB-C Power Adapter
  • 11.97 x 8.36 x 0.61" (3 lbs)

There was a design change to the laptop chassis with m2, but in terms of computing power, the m1 was such a huge leap...no need to upgrade if based on that aspect alone, esp for casual or even casual content Creation purposes. I expect our m1 Mac mini to last at least five years.

The models with 256 gig storage also have faster SSD throughout on the m1 vs the m2...not applicable to bigger 512 gig, though.
