This is a great deal! I picked them up from Massdrop/Drop back in 2018 when the price dropped to $699 from the original $799 and never been sorry. They compare to the Clear, and come with both a SE and balanced cable making them great for a wide variety of gear.

Always wanted to try these. I have the Elegia which I like, even though I've barely touched them since I got the Hifiman Edition XS.

How has the hifiman qc been? I stopped buying headphones after my Sundaras as I considered it my end game.

I'm tempted to buy these. It's the lowest price I've seen for new. They have a 3 year warranty, which headphones.com will help manage with Focal. I'm hesitant because of the driver failure issues, the potential for the headband to break (which is not covered by the warranty), and the high cost of replacement ear pads. Decisions, decisions.

SONICGOLD coupon applied for 10% off until I entered my email address - couldn't get any other coupons to work, seems to be limited to previous customers (and not brand new rewards accounts).

Spoke to their support - SONIC5 will work on this item for ~$20 off but cannot be applied to your first order.

Nothing wrong with my set and I got them right when they came out with that model.

Nice find!

I'm super tempted to jump on this deal but the final sale concerns me in case these are too bright.(my experience with their car audio products)

I demo'ed the lineup of Focal headphones at our local store, and found that the signature Focal sound has a hole in the upper mid range. Only the Utopias sounded "correct" to me, while the Stellia's were also great sounding, especially for closed back. The Celestees and the Clear Mg didn't feel tonally correct and the soundstage was a bit more narrow than I'd like.

Comparing to other brands such as HiFiMan and Sennheisers, I'd say that Focal has the clarity and resolution with a more intimate soundstage. HFM has tonal and depth advantage going for them, but lacking in resolution. Sennheiser's, depending on which one, has the soundstage advantage but may be lacking in depth.

I have the HFM Ananda V1, HFM HE400i, Sennheiser HD 700, Sennheiser HD 598, and the Focal Bathys in my collection. I find myself reaching for the Ananda's more than anything else. All are driven with a Schiit Lyr 3 w/ the holy grail TSRP tube.

However I think for $399, it's worth a shot in the dark to try these out.

How do these compare to DT 1990 Pro's?
