I'm super tempted to jump on this deal but the final sale concerns me in case these are too bright.(my experience with their car audio products)

Comparing to other brands such as HiFiMan and Sennheisers, I'd say that Focal has the clarity and resolution with a more intimate soundstage. HFM has tonal and depth advantage going for them, but lacking in resolution. Sennheiser's, depending on which one, has the soundstage advantage but may be lacking in depth.
I have the HFM Ananda V1, HFM HE400i, Sennheiser HD 700, Sennheiser HD 598, and the Focal Bathys in my collection. I find myself reaching for the Ananda's more than anything else. All are driven with a Schiit Lyr 3 w/ the holy grail TSRP tube.
However I think for $399, it's worth a shot in the dark to try these out.
