Unfortunately things go front page with literally zero comments. So the community isn't even involved. Meh.

I wish SD was more transparent about things.

Looking at just reviews for the 2 in 1 ratchet no good comments. Sounds like an interesting idea but the high ratings are for entirely different versions.

Why is this front page?! I'm convinced Amazon owns Slickdeals because everything ends up as a deal.
This item is $4.99 with multiple retailers and poor reviews.

I have a Craftsman ratcheting screwdriver set from Amazon and love it. That set comes with multiple bits, a telescoping magnetic tool, and a case. It's $15.98 right now.

Haha, I hear you there.
Amazon does an excellent job of matching other merchant prices and they sell everything, so it is pretty easy to see how they get so many front page deals here.
We allow a large variety of deals, not all are for everyone but we aim to feature those that the community has liked and voted up-- which appears to be the case here, so it makes sense for it to make it to the Front Page.

The great thing about our community is that we all can share our thoughts like you have (thank you) and help others make better shopping decisions.

I hear ya with the meh.. but I'd say there is community involvement in the votes that help sway the FP decision, and we would love it if all the threads had comments, good or bad.

And we are actively working on being more transparent too.

Thanks for your reply. Can you explain how SD is being more transparent? I see more and more items (personally) hit front page with little or no community involvement and zero comments. There are countless comments on this by the community.

We all want this to be a great community. But we don't want to have shill products shoved into our faces. It changes the vibe and trust. We notice this.

Votes are the main factor letting us know a deal should be on the front page. It's in Slickdeals's interest that people find great deals that they remember and can brag about to people they know. But I think mediocre deals on low-cost items can be popular as impulse purchases since waiting months to save a couple of dollars is not really worth it these days. And SDers are a critical bunch, so if there are no negative comments it might be the deal of the century. laugh out loud In the coming days we'll be inviting more feedback and participation, which will hopefully help get everyone vibing again Smilie
