I bought mine almost 6 years ago now and it still runs perfectly, even through incredibly hard use. The self-propel feature on mine is adjustable via an incremental toggle switch from a slight crawl to a nice brisk pace. I highly recommend it to everyone!

There's a dial you can spin to lower and increase speed. She'll do great

Ok...well you have your datapoint to add, and I have mine. I dont live in Texas, and I also dont mow just "1/8 of an inch". Rainfall in downstate NY is quite substantial during the growing season, and to avoid cutting off more than 1/3 of the grass' length, weekly, or even 2x-weekly cutting is required.

Charging 4x is not an issue with two batteries.

Calling these machines "trash" is still extremely hyperbolic and helps no one. No solution is perfect; my parents are elderly but still enjoy the exercise of mowing the lawn; not having to clear out seasonal gas, clean out carbs, and push around heavy machines is a boon to them, so electric is ideal for them.

I'm also looking to switch to a battery powered lawn mower and interested in Greenworks 80v at Costco for $600… is this a better deal than the Greenwork lawnmower? Thanks
After having used a couple of these, I would say whichever one has more power (torque?) for cutting dense/tough/damp grass. Also whichever one is not self propelled. These things are super light…no need for SP IMO.

Battery longevity has never been an issue with me (.5 acre) with two batts since I usually need a little break anyway, and it takes about a minute to switch out the batteries in the charger.

The great thing about these (I assume also with Ego) is that the chargers are so fast that by the time I finish cutting the yard, it's already charged my first battery. So I can use that one for blowing, or just have it ready for the next cutting.

I have a 1/3 acre yard and it takes about a full 10ah + most of a 4ah to complete. Also, completely dependent on grass length and temp outside. With that said, 2 batteries allows you to charge one while using the other.
How long do the larger batteries take to charge to full capacity?

I have about a 1/4 acre. Would you recommend the 10ah bundle over the 7.5ah bundle?

If the mower itself is the same, I'd go for this one with the 7.5 and 5. Reason is if you ever wind up having a battery die or need replacement, you still have a working battery and aren't waiting for a warranty return just to mow the lawn. You never know how long the warranty process (or buying another outside of warranty) will take with shipping etc.

I've owned a Kobalt 80v (Greenworks rebadge) for almost 6 years and there have been several times where I would have been unable to use it if I only had one battery due to warranty covered failure or just the battery reaching the end of its life and trying to find a deal on a new one.

Both bundles actually come with two batteries 10ah/5ah, and 7.5ah/5ah

I have an older model of this and several other tools (edger and such). The mower and tools have all been fantastic and bulletproof. That said, I've had average luck the with the batteries. My 7.5 AH battery that came with the mower died within 2 years; got a new one under warranty and that one lasted another 2.5 years. The batteries are pretty expensive, so just be prepared for that. Still, I was very happy with the mower and would recommend.

The 10aH takes around an hour to charge fully using the rapid charger. If it is hot out, which it usually is in the summer, the battery will need to go through a full cooling cycle on the charger before it begins to charge and this can add another 20 minutes depending on the temperature.

I use a cool fully charged, from the previous cut,10ah run it until drained and then while charging edge, weed whack and blow with a 5ah then finish off the lawn with the fresh charged 10ah. But now I have two 7.5ah from the snow blower deal so I will be able to just cut my 1/2 acre all at once.

My yard is 1/2 acre, entirely covered with grass. Would I be able to finish the lawn using both batteries?
Not if it is thick and/or wet, or if you are using the high lift blade which definitely gives the best cut, the mulcher leaves stripes. I would go with the 10aH deal.

Yes it's better than green works , but if you can crack the deal for 450 then green works is good overall

I had this exact one from Lowes! And for original price!

Despite having the honking massive battery (I actually got the 10 amp battery I think) I ran out of battery within 22 minutes. For a third of an acre, this is obviously not enough. I should not have to charge 3 batteries to get a third of an acre done with my thousand dollar mower.

Just buy gas. These battery-powered mowers are garbage. I bought this one to replace my Greenworks mower that lasted 15 minutes on a charge.
my greenworks mower lasted for 6 years, and while the batteries did get worse they didn't get that much worse

the 10ah mower is the 2156 which has more torque
it's not just a bigger battery

I'm not saying it won't last, I'm saying the battery life is hot garbage if you're mowing more than 1/5 of an acre. It was fine when I had a TINY suburban plot. I only had to charge it twice.

Have an Ego mower, trimmer, blower, I wouldn't do it again. Not great of a cut, bogs down easily, handle safety interlock wiring was damaged from storing it regularly (known issue). On the flip side, it's quiet, but that's the only positive over a similarly spec'd quite a bit cheaper gas powered mower.
