I bought mine almost 6 years ago now and it still runs perfectly, even through incredibly hard use. The self-propel feature on mine is adjustable via an incremental toggle switch from a slight crawl to a nice brisk pace. I highly recommend it to everyone!

There's a dial you can spin to lower and increase speed. She'll do great

Ok...well you have your datapoint to add, and I have mine. I dont live in Texas, and I also dont mow just "1/8 of an inch". Rainfall in downstate NY is quite substantial during the growing season, and to avoid cutting off more than 1/3 of the grass' length, weekly, or even 2x-weekly cutting is required.

Charging 4x is not an issue with two batteries.

Calling these machines "trash" is still extremely hyperbolic and helps no one. No solution is perfect; my parents are elderly but still enjoy the exercise of mowing the lawn; not having to clear out seasonal gas, clean out carbs, and push around heavy machines is a boon to them, so electric is ideal for them.

I bought my honda 7 years ago for $680. Since then I probably spend around $20 a year on gas. I've changed the oil, air filter, and spark plug twice.

By now if I'd had a battery mower I would probably have needed to buy a new battery at least once, for more than all the maintenance I've done on my mower.

It's worth pointing out that back when I bought my Honda Ego wasn't well known yet and they hadn't been in the mower game long. At that time their 21" mower was $600 with one battery and I definitely would need two for my yard. So it actually would have been more expensive than my Honda.

At this point it doesn't make sense to replace a perfectly functional mower that still runs like it's brand new.

I'm not against people getting Ego mowers, and I'll probably get one someday.

All of my other lawn equipment is Ego.
I bought my Craftsman V60 propelled mower maybe almost 5 years ago. I haven't done anything to it in those 5 years. No batteries either. I would never go back to gas. Not me.

56v X 7.5Ah= 420Wh

Is that correct?

Do the batteries have a cap that splits the battery during transport like DeWalt?

We're about to PCS for army in 2 weeks and this sheet says moving company won't touch anything over 100 watt hours when packing household goods due to a policy change in 2023.

I bought an ego mower about 8 years ago. The 5ah battery died right when the warranty did. Ever look at replacement costs for their batteries? You are better off buying a new mower.

I need a mower before summer and I still have two Ego trimmers and a blower. But I am thinking harder about the greenworks at Costco just for warranty reasons.

Can someone describe how the self propelled works on this mower? Some years ago, I got rid of my Honda because I hated the rear wheel drive, self propelled. I went back to a Toro front wheel drive self propelled, because it was much easier to just lift the front wheels and pull backwards, when cutting under shrubs and bushes. I have a lot of shrubs that I cut under, and the Honda wore me out. Not only was it tough to pull backwards, even if you disengaged the drive, the transmission started locking up after a couple years of use. My Toro is starting to have some problems, and I need to replace the front wheels. They've gotten slick and provide no traction. Thought about just getting the EGO since I already have the string trimmer, edger and battery.
EGO uses RWD electric motors for traction on the heavy part of the mower. When you push, it goes. It will slip if the ground is slippery on on a slope, but the motor will keep going and going.
I use mine on a 25deg slope with no issues. I also mine on the regular 5deg slope and I have to run after the mower if I have the speed setting to high. It just goes.

I have bad knees and got rid of my gas mower because the assist wasnt enough for my slopes. I also hated breathing the fumes of the gas engine; I would get sick breathing fumes. Electric made it so much better. Guess that's the price to pay.

With regards to the Ego batteries, that is why I picked up the Ego single stage snow thrower (with 2 of the 7.5 ah batteries) back in February from Maxtool. Total came to $399. I use these batteries in the mower, leaf blower, chainsaw, and edger. Pretty much everything except the hedge trimmer due to its weight and the fact that the 5.0 battery is more than sufficient for that tool. Being able to find different battery/tool deals for Ego helps maintain my supply of batteries. If you keep your eyes open for the deals, they are out there for most people's needs over time. Good luck with your decision.

I've had mine for a few years and paid almost that for 1 battery without select cut... paid like 80 more for parts to make it a select cut. this is a screamin deal...

it does take a slight change in habit/expectations with a batt mower. damp grass doesn't cut well at all and the propel isn't instant like with gas. almost tempted to buy this and sell my old one...

I had a battery die on me and getting a warranty replacement was pretty painless.

Home depot dropped ego like a bad habit a few years ago and sold hundreds of items at a huge discount to get rid of them just type in EGO and the search form and look through something old forms where you were getting $99 blowers with 5 amp batteries from home Depot
FYI, EGO went to Lowes. It was a power move by Lowes and EGO, not the other way around.

My real concern is the battery life. I have an EGO power blower, using exactly the same battery. It works great, but soon the battery degraded pretty quickly and now it only can work for less than 10 minutes for a full charge! So I seriously doubt the claimed 60-minuites mowing for this beast. My guess would be 15 minutes after few uses or maybe even less as time goes(like after half a year).

I like the convenience and quiet of the mower, but I still prefer gas one which is way more reliable(and cheaper) since I have a large yard.

I've had this mower and 7.5ah battery for five years. We weekly cut 5000 sg ft lawn with half on slope with no problem 9-10 months out of the year. We've also used the battery with a blower. Battery life has started to degrade but still has enough juice to cut the lawn. This is a good deal with the extra battery.

I always wash off my Husqvarna prior to storing it in my shed. Mainly to get dirt/grass off the mowers deck and dog 💩 off the tires. Being an electric, I assume you probably just blow it off with a compressor or an EGO blower? As for the dog 💩 I imagine I should pick it up vs having to wipe it off the tires...🤔

Is this a better option over the Milwaukee mower? I have Milwaukee tools but this offer is enticing.
Much better than the Milwaukee mower, which is way over price IMO. I'm not anti-Milwaukee as I have a bunch of their M18 tools.

I'm on year 5, however not this model. Runs great, I did have it repaired at the end of the season over the winter, the arms that you can fold in, over time, must have worn the wires for the self propelled rheostat. This caused the mower to be stuck in the slowest mode. Luckily it's light enough to push without any real strain on level ground. But outside of that the 7.5Ah for the mower I have (not double bladed) can cut a 5500sqft yard (1/4 acre lot) on a single change unless it's really cold.

Wonder why they went with 56v instead of 80v for this beast? Just curious how it would perform compared to my non self-propelled, 80v 4ah battery Greenworks Pro?

Better said, would the difference in battery size (7.5 here vs my 4) make up for the voltage difference? Or is that apples to oranges?

I'm still happy with mine after a few years of use, but I do miss the raw power of my old gas mower, which was noticeably higher.
Voltage is irrelevant on its own. Total wattage is what you want. A 1 amp 80v motor is less powerful than a 2 amp 56v motor. So unless you can compare the total power you can't really get a good comparison on the actual performance of the mower.
