Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...

Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

For the 180 days unlocking policy, do we need to be on some active plan for device to be unlocked? Or can just let the service expire and then it auto unlocks like Total by Verizon?

If we need active service, what are the cheapest options?

This is terrible. I just tried to buy the Motorola Razr 2023 with my Google voice number for port-in, but at the end of ordering process I got the cancellation message "Sorry blah blah....try the store....". I then use a different browser to try to order it again, but they are no longer allowed to port-in that same number. I also got the email from Google to let me know that Google received the request to port in my number. Unbelievable. So I am out of the number to port in because they flagged the previous number.

I know Metro is a pathetic company. In fact, I'm sorry I couldn't process your order (luckily, it was before they locked my GV number). I was ready for a disastrous situation like yours and to move on.

Do one thing: get another Google Voice number and waste $3 (no choice) for another try.

Just put the sim card in the phone. Make some calls with it. To be safe do this over a couple of days. This ensures it is registered on Metro system. Then power it off and stick it in a drawer. Make sure autopay is turned off on your account. No need to pay more account fees. After 180 days power it up and look for the unlock app or option and unlock it. If it doesn't work right away try the next day.

A warning to you all.... if your order is unsuccessfully, you no longer get a second chance to go through the ordering again with that same number.

I think Razr 2023 Sage is OOS... shows "Uh oh, this device is currently unavailable online."
It was ok about 15 min ago...

Can you port out the number after 1 month or does the prevent the phone getting unlocked?

Oh I was lucky that that Google Voice number is a minor number and will be deleted anyway and I didn't unlock that number yet, so I believe it is ok.

I've been watching the Samsung A54 and at times it's listed in their website for $49.99 for new customers with a $65 plan, but it will NEVER let you check out at that price.

I called and they confirmed the price multiple times, but says it's an issue with their website and can't do anything about it. Ridiculous.
