Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

https://voice.google.com/u/0/settings#voicemail
Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

How long do you have to keep the $60 plan? My kid has the $25 a month deal, so I don't want to mess that up.

The $60 plan doesn't turn on autopay by default either? It mentioned autopay when selecting the plan.

Yes, from past experience, it did not turn on autopay. But for caution, when you have a device, it is better to login to double check. Their policy could change at any time without notice!

Is porting allowed with t mobile mvno like tello ? could someone suggest a cheaper way to get a number other than google voice
No. I tried porting from Mint and this eliminated the "port in" discount.

I agree with all your points about Apple. I started working with mainframe computers in 1977. Bought my first personal computer (Atari 800) in 1980 and built many PCs from parts after that. Never bought an Apple PC, or Macs, or iSomething because they're overpriced and used propriertary Apple accessories.

As for reselling, I can turn around and sell my Metro iPhone12 next week as "locked to Metro/T-mobile" for $202, a small profit from the $175 that I paid Metro. Six months from now, its value will drop some from the current $234 for unlocked, but I will still make some money.
Great post. Likewise over here. I've never purchased a MACs or isomething as well. I've assembled desktops and gotten laptops for far less with equal/better performance.
On the site you linked, buybackboss - I'm assuming it's safe to sell? Just the $$ they say is what you get - no other fees etc? Thanks.

This is correct. That is the only way - to delete this number and get a new number - if you need to port it out. However please be aware that getting too many GV numbers, results in Google blocking you from getting new GV numbers forever.
ok, I understand, Thank you for the help, repped

After you selected the make/model/capacity/condition of your phone, they'll provide a quote. If you place your sell order, they'll provide a free shipping label for you to download. The quoted price is good for 14 days. For a new-in-box, BuyBackBoss and most other resellers will only payout by Paypal (so they can clawback the payment if later on they found the phone was stolen or blacklisted), you'll have to pay around 3% Paypal fee. For phones that are not brand-new, you can choose to get paid by Paypal, Check, or deposit to your bank account. I've sold only brand-new iPhone 11's to them, so they didn't haggle. When/if people sent in phones that didn't match the stated conditions, BBB will reduce the offered price. If you agree to the lower price, they will pay out. Else, they will ship the phone back to you at no charge.

I bought a Tmobile phone number on ebay and the number is valid. But it doesn't seem to work for porting. I mean the porting is fine when you enter the number, but the discount goes away.

Of cause , you are doing T-Mobile to T-Mobile , you cannot get discount.
you need a number not from T-Mobile to get discount

Yeah I should have done more reading. I thought it was any porting. I spent $9 on that number. Big Grin
