Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

https://voice.google.com/u/0/settings#voicemail
Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

* I don't think Metro sends a text indicating the phone was activated. But they've always sent an email with the title "You did it! Your phone is active" after my Metro phones were activated. That email shows the activation date and the phone number. That's proof that the phone was activated on Metro.
* On my iPhone12, in Settings-->Phone-->My Number, it shows the number that I ported in. That's enough proof to prove that my phone number was ported in.
They do send a text indicating that the line is activated and this is your number. It also lists the account number and terms and conditions etc etc. It happened with my Moto stylus line. Also it happened a couple of years ago when I had first got an iPhone in stores.

I'm just saying that since the number port hasn't completed the number is not yet fully registered on Metro network because it can't receive calls and can't do any texts. So whatever unlocking logic is usually starts with when the phone is registered.

Also I don't know what the delay is porting Google voice. I've ported GV numbers so many times to Xfinity, Google Fi etc and basically never had an issue. I think this is maybe a Metro system issue. My number is still with Google voice and it shows a lock button, which means it can be locked again and restricted for porting. Had the port request gone through there would have been no lock button. Only Delete.

Yes, exactly today I went into my GV account, and my old phone number was still there with only the delete button (the unlock or lock button disappeared as soon as it was reserved by Metro during the order process). Today I deleted the ported-out number from my Google account and got a new number.

After logging into the metro account, the GV phone number is listed, and the device name is Razr 2023 (so all looks good). What else do they need from Google now to port out? I assume their own network takes time to configure because my previous port out from Sprint and other network were done instantly.

How come it is not registered on metro network when sim card clearly says Metro on top left corner? Also in About phone it has GV number as phone number etc

same here...and while I activated without taking the phone out of the box, i was still able to call the number & get the GV automated response (instead of just some metro VM attendant)...

Would I be able to trade in a phone to the Google Store as soon as I receive my iPhone? Would the locked aspect be any trouble?

Says iphone 12 was discontinued September 12, 2023 and iOS 17.3 released in January 22nd 2024 they have new method of wirelessly updating iphones without opening the box.

Amazing Tech to update iOS inside a sealed box.

Are they also charging it wirelessly inside the box? And that's why they ship with camera side up!

I am not sure ported out GV number will disappear from google account. It will remain under your account unless you delete it and get new one. It won't disappear like it happen with traditional service provider e.g. sprint or t mobile or any other mvno where number disappear from account after port out.

nope privacy virtual cards lets you use any name and address. But Metro did ask identity questions after payment like how old is your father between certain age and between certain height on drivers license
Thanks. The question is about you or your family persona' info?
