Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

https://voice.google.com/u/0/settings#voicemail
Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

After the first month, can I switch to a cheaper plan? I know I can just keep it locked in my drawer for the next 6 months. But I think I saw metro has a $25/month plan
Yes, you can switch to any other plan including the $25 plan.

Here is what I did and STILL FAILED & get the request to contact Metro to place an order:
- new devices (phone/tablet instead of PC)
- new browsers (and incognito too) (I tried Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge)
- cellular instead of wifi
- new name
- new phone number
- new email
- new address
- new card
- also tried both login and not login

Nothing seems to work for me. I wonder how they could shadow ban (blacklist) me from making an order.

My theory is: they do it for specific area/city.

Tried to add a line but ordered couldn't through and now account shows 'Sorry, you are not eligible to add a new line'. So called them and reason it gives this message is not because account is blacklisted, but because the port had started, even though order didn't go through. So they said just wait a bit (couple hours, maybe the day), then that attempted port drops off and error message goes away.
4 hours, to be exact.

Go to LexisNexis and order your free report. Lots of companies use their information to validate you. I recently received my report and there were several instances of incorrect information. They send you a letter with a link to access your report. I had an incorrect birthdate, street address, city, phone numbers, and email addresses. I disputed all of those things this week.

I was denied on Metro once and switched to incognito mode on Chrome back in September on the Moto deal and it went through. They also sent me 2 phones but that's another story!

Thing is many of us already passed verification and got a line/phone - we just can't add a line which doesn't make sense since they already provided one to us.

Ah oh! It is sad to see the some prices went higher (ex. Iph. 11). They also changed the chat options. it looks like they got what people are trying to do and fixed as much as possible. I was going to port in but my account also does not allow me to order any device. If prices would not go higher, I was tempted to try another Moto G for someone else. Nevermind.

They said they can but really wouldn't suggest because I'm sure they're gonna mess it up. The port dept rep stated only the 'online port dept.' can do that but I can't speak with that dept - he can only email them my info and they have to call me back to do. To me, that policy is nuts in 2024, plus I'm not even sure that rep was correct.

Anyone delete their Google voice number after porting to see if this fixes the issue of incoming calls still going to Google voice?

Read a previous post saying not to do that and GV ports take several days because they're considered landlines. I activated yesterday and got the successful activation email, but I have the same issue as you with calls/texts still going to GV. I don't really care though because I only used the GV number to activate and start the 6 month unlock clock

According to someone, you shouldn't delete your Google number after porting out to Metro. It takes 7–10 days to complete.

https://support.google.com/voice/...vice?hl=en

I deleted it after activating a new phone and receiving a metro email confirming the same.

This GV number is not important for me. The main goal is 180 days for the phone to unlock and insert an active SIM from another provider (not into the flipping business).

same here and more over metro doesn't car either unless we ask them to fix it (who wants to deal with them anyways).

Before they notice or try to fix anything our lines will expire (most probably suspended)
