Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

I see in my account that each sim is attached to the phone that it came with. The problem is how to start using a phone with a different Metro sim. I bought two phones with new numbers. I see them both in my account. I activated both. But when I tried to place the second sim into the first phone, it did not work (service not working). Not sure how and if possible to fix it.
After selecting one line, you will see the option "Switch device Choose a different device to use on this line."

I tried this option just out of curiosity. Basically I tried to add the first phone's IMEI to the second line (switch between the two I have) and it did not work. Said something like This IMEI is already in use etc. By this logic another phone by Metro that did not buy would have the same problem. Maybe both sims have to be removed from the phones when you do the changes on the account. I have no clue, really.

If you want to switch phone you need call in to update IMEI or update it on your own from its app

Funny that LG G6 from 2017 on your list had more screen resolution than all the recent phones!
Yes, the LG G6 and Essential PH-1 have great screens. My LG G6 still works but it's not VoLTE capable so can't be used now.

I followed the entire process, had to switch browsers, create and unlock google voice, procure single use CCs and finally when I finished jumping thru the hoops - we can't process your order online. any remedy?

The LG G2 was the best... Crazy long battery life, fast and good screen to body ratio.

Bought the samsung galaxy a15 5g Maybe 6 weeks ago on this deal. After one month I was able to use it on the tmobile network already. Had to request a sim card from tmobile to activate. I then bought a nord n30 but changed my mind and returned it. Metro received my return on February 14 and still have not received refund to this day. contacted support multiple times with no response.

Good deal to get a free phone but don't even think about returning one.

I am not sure how much you paid. But if I recalled it last month, the Nord N30 was free $0 + $40 plan. So if return the N30, there's probably no refund cuz N30 was free. You paid $40 was for the plan, but I could be wrong.

Yep, practicalrph gave the N30 to Metro for nothing since there's no refund for prepaid plans.

Will it work on Mint without being unlocked since mint uses T-Mobile network?
No luck on my Nord n30. I activated Nord on metro, then swapped the sim out with an active mint sim. Phone said something about unlocking depending on the network policy.

I remember going through the setup and the screen said something about applying phone settings related to the carrier. Then it downlaoded a bunch of apps (I hate that). Is this a programmed routine that happens after the sim card is inserted?

Asking because if I had put in the mint sim card, would it have locked the phone and downloaded all those games and metro apps?

The nice thing about all iPhones is that there is zero Metro bloatware.
I'm still waiting to see if an S23 FE comes back in stock. It's the best Android phone Metro sells. Feels like a near flagship and supports Dex which is very nice.

I don't know how a locked Metro phone behaves when you put in a non-Metro SIM. With my locked phones from Tracfone, when I put in a non-Tracfone SIM it'll say Invalid SIM or Unregistered SIM.

The bloatware apps and games that are loaded depend on the setup of the company whose SIM you put in. If you put in a prepaid AT&T SIM, it will download all the AT&T bloatware apps; most likely the same with SIMs from other providers. An unlocked phone will not be relocked if you put in a Mint SIM.
