New wording for Metro unlock policy:
https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy
"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:
The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."
Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...

2) I did delete the GV number last night and just found it got worse: calls to the GV# were always busy.
3) I reclaimed the GV# again and now it got restored to step 1). will see what's going to happen next.
I deleted the GV number, which I ported out to Metro, and activated the phone. I can call from that phone but can't receive a call (busy tone when someone calls) or text. For me, a ported-out GV number is not important at all (a junk number).
I have already claimed a new number on GV.
Are you suggesting that I delete the newly claimed number and I can reclaim the old number (which I ported out for this deal)? Once you reclaim the old GV number, does that require a credit card? And once reclaimed, does it display the "delete" button only or "lock" and "unlock" as well?
According to this document to reclaim that number you have to unlock it again that means pay another $3...

I don't care about ported out GV number....all I care is metro unlock that phone after 180 days....I am not paying beyond 30 days like many posters...
Let me know if you care about that ported out GV number and you want to use it on metro beyond 30 days....
Called Metro ,but of course they couldn't help ,besides removing/installing sim etc. Got told to wait 2 hours for provisioning . Also my number still shows on Google voice and works there .

After I received an activated message from Metro, I went to my Google account, and the ported-out number was still there with only the delete button.
I made the mistake of deleting that number instead of waiting for it to disappear (according to one poster, it seems it takes 7–10 days for GV to complete port out—kind of weird in 2024).
Did your ported-out GV disappear from your Google account after activating your Metro phone? or it is still under that account with only the delete button.
In my case, I use all the metro numbers (which will expire and later be suspended after 30 days) to get a new GV number on many different Google accounts.
5 new metro numbers, meaning 5 new Google accounts, and each one gets a new GV number link for those metro numbers.
BTW: I am not a seller or flipper

[1] my old number 111-111-1111 --> ported out for this deal to metro and phone activated [I can see that number on the phone and internet, outgoing call works
[2] I went ahead and delete 111-111-1111 from google account (only delete button available) assuming number is ported and now to get new one I have to delete this etc
[3] Now my google account has 222-222-2222
Are you suggesting delete "222-222-2222" from google account and reclaim the old number 111-111-1111....
When you say you can reclaim it....does that mean you paid another $3 to reclaim the old number?
