Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

https://voice.google.com/u/0/settings#voicemail
Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

I tried that but it didn't work because metro sim has no signal now.
Put the Metro SIM in the phone, no signal is fine, most of us didn't maintain service past the 1st month. You need to turn on WiFi so the phone can go to Metro's unlock database and gets its unlock status updated.

Is the iPhone 12 worth it's price at $165? I am looking at Trade in deals as well, and the value of the trade in is usually only around $160-$200. At Google's website for some reason the iPhone 11 has better trade in value than iPhone 12.

I got the iphone 12 by porting in a GV number. Did the activation online and it went smoothly. Got the email from Metro saying activation is successful. However, I cannot send or receive text messages. I can make calls but not texts. Has anyone had the same issue? TIA.
It is important that your phone is activated, and you received an email from Metro about it. All we need is a 180-day unlock counter that starts in the Metro database.

Most of us are using a throw-away GV number for this deal. So whether your port out works completely or not is not very important unless you plan to use Metro for the past 30 days or port out that number from Metro within 30 days.

After 180 days, You don't need put in the inactived Metro SIM to get it unlocked.
You need connect the phone to Wi-Fi to request the "permanent unlock" from the phone menu

I bought the Metro i12 for $175 with tax. I'm playing wih it to see if I can tolerate the differences between iOS and Android, because occassionally there are bank and movie deals that require iOS. If I don't keep it, I can sell to BuyBackBoss for at least $200, more if unlocked. I also bought an i11 for $65. I activated it yesterday but kept unopened. I'm gambling that it will be unlocked after 180 days. If it gets unlocked, I can sell it to BBB new-in-box for $240. If it remains locked BBB will pay $180. Price might drop $20 in 6 months. I should still make some money with it to offset my cost of the i12.

I ported from tracfone a while ago, it is completely normal to receive a different pin every time, just make sure you use the last transfer pin you receive, and also check for the transfer pin expiration date, I think they expire quite fast, don't remember how long they last before expiration

Based on posts in the Tracfone sub-forum of Howard Forums, the port PIN expires 24 hrs after issued.

Thanks. It worked. The phone is unlocked now.

One small update to steps. I had to force close the unlock app before clearing storage and opening it again.

Steps I followed:
1) In Settings, search for "Unlock". Select the app Unlock (pink icon) near the bottom.
2) Force close the app
3) Clear storage/cache
4) Open the app
5) Now the option for permanent unlock should show up
6) Had to click permanent unlock 3 times before it actually worked and asked for a restart to apply the unlock.
Great! It unlocked one of mine at day 171.

Yes, the LG G6 and Essential PH-1 have great screens. My LG G6 still works but it's not VoLTE capable so can't be used now.
Your LG G6 still could not have VoLTE ? my Sprint LG G6 flashed the generic firmware worked for many years on VoLTE

I checked the IMEI of my LG G6 and it passed with T-mo but not AT&T and Verizon. It's kind of old, so I don't want to spend much effort to get it working.

The nice thing about all iPhones is that there is zero Metro bloatware.
I'm still waiting to see if an S23 FE comes back in stock. It's the best Android phone Metro sells. Feels like a near flagship and supports Dex which is very nice.
Why not just to in store to get this phone? But only if you want it bad enough as they do charge for the $25 activation fee and I believe they also charge tax for the phone at retail price and not at $50 which is what you will be paying for due to the promo. This is what I was told over the phone.

They charge a lot more instore than online. also Google Voice ports in-store they make no commission so they won't let you use it.

$50 Port In for phone
$65 Plan
$20 Activation
$10 Sim Card
$30 Case/Screen Protector
$45 tax on $600 pre-discounted price

Total Price $220
