Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

For people who are able to order 2nd phone with add a line option of $30, did you change your email/payment/ip?
I finally was able to add a 2nd phone (i11) to my account today. On 3/6/24, it let me add the i11 for $0 + $30 plan but always failed after the order was submitted. I used the same email, payment, browser (Edge), except today I used Private mode, don't know if that's why it worked.

If a GV number got locked up because the order failed, wait about 4 hrs and Metro will free it up. I tried the same GV number about 5 times on Wednesday-Thursday. Just had to wait 4 hrs after each failure. Tried today with the same number and the order went through.

You should login to your account first before you add a second device. If you look at the plan structure, each additional line should be $30 without auto pay. It should be $35 since autopay has to be manually enabled. My guess is that their developers didn't program it well.

It depends on how you look at it. The first line is $65 ($60 with autopay). The 2nd line is another $30. Since both lines are in a "group plan" so to speak, the $5 difference only applies to the 1st line.

I entered incorrect account details while creating my second line. So the port got stuck and I couldn't complete the order. I only realized this after I called in and spoke to port department.
They cancelled my port but in my online account it shows I'm ineligible to add a new line. I called 611 and was transferred to port department again and they confirmed port was cancelled.

Now I'm stuck in limbo. Any tips on how to work around this?
I have one order completed and activated. I was trying port a second line to this and get a multi line discount

I ran into the same problem on Wednesday afternoon after a failed order in the morning. At first I thought they had blacklisted my account, but later in the evening I was able to add a line again (although the order still didn't go through). My guess is that you get the "unable to add a line" message if the previous failed order hasn't been purged completely from Metro system yet. You can try again tomorrow and see if you still can't add a line.

Metro stores a lot of cookies and info on your computer. Try clearing the cache of all the browsers that you had used to place Metro orders.

I checked out the trade in value towards the google pixel 8 with the iPhones… iPhone 11 is valued at $270 while the iPhone 12 is valued at $146…. I bought both for personal use but I find that very interesting and confusing. (The newer and better phones should be valued more.)

If you have an active Metro account, log into it, scrol down where it shows the info for your current line, near there is a button for Add-A-Line.

I saw this exact same thing and it is very confusing. It seems that iPhone 12 doesn't have very high trade values in general. The values are similar or lower than IiPhone 11 - which is weird. So buying iPhone 12 at $165+ taxes for a future trade in might be a bad idea.
