Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

I got to the very very very end, entered my credit card, and then got an error, and told to go into the store. Now when I try again with my number, I get a message of "Unfortunately, this number can't be transferred. Try another number or choose a new number to continue". Huh...?
Did this "new number" error got fixed? Facing the same thing now.

Yep. I am getting that same exact message.

I even have a 30-day plan that is expiring in 5 days, so whatever information I gave them was good enough 25 days ago and now isn't.

And the thing is that my credit card approves it, but then Metro goes and credits back the $40.

Yea, I had to wait like 6 hours. I think Metro locks your number into their system for x amount of hours.

this is your 1st order? I have a theory their system won't allow people to place order too frequent, after getting 2 phones in Feb, my 3rd order won't go through anymore.
It said Max of 2 instant rebates per household. At least that is what is shown for iPhone 11 promo.

An iPhone is unlocked when its IMEI is added to an Apple database of Unlocked Devices (via a request from the provider). With an Android phone you need to put in the SIM (might not be necessary), connect to WiFi, then use the Network Unlock function in Settings to get it unlocked.
Thanks for clarifying for iPhone. My experience is only with android phone and I could not unlock it without original sim but it may depend on brand/model of phone.

At some point, before the iphone 11 jumped from $0 to $49.99, has anyone been able to add it as second line for $30 ? Basically, $0 for iphone11 and $30 for service. First iphone11 was $0 and $65 for service.

Your port-in number was already checked and reserved to Metro. At activation, the port-in will take place. You won't get an opportunity to get a new number, but even if you do, that means you didn't port in a number as required by the deal and Metro has every right to go back and charge you full price for the phone.
Not sure if you can help. Say I port from Metro to Total on the 29th day, will it be successfully ported. Do I activate when I receive the phone, if so I would no longer have service from Metro.

I submitted an order 2 days ago with a Tracfone number to port. Order did not go through, and even worse, Tracfone now says my number cannot be found in their system Frown
Just got a $3 Google Voice number today and new order didn't complete either after having gotten all the way to payment info.

Sorry, I've never used Total. I use Tracfone which is a sister company of Total. The only time I ported a number to Tracfone was back in 2001. I entered the port-in number, account number (Verizon postpaid), PIN, and a contact phone numer. It took a few days for Tracfone to get the number released by Verizon. At that time, a Tracfone rep called me to complete the port-in. Things probably have changed a lot since 2001.

Hello, what do you mean by reclaim old number? I got a GV number and bought the iPhone 12. Waiting to receive it now. I understand that I shouldn't delete the number and it will disappear automatically after the port disappears. Are you suggesting that the old number will up show automatically even though it's still active on Metro? Or that I need to wait for Metro to disconnect the number (after non-payment of 2nd month) and I will automatically get back the old number that I had? I liked the GV number I got so I thought the only way to get it back after Metro disconnect was to port BACK to GV (and pay the $20) before the 30 days expires.

Thanks.
If you delete your GV number after activating the metro number (you must have received a phone-activated email from Metro), then it will create porting issues.

Right now, your incoming calls will give you a busy ton for a ported-out GV number. Now issues mean the phone will remain active on GV and Metro. You can simply reclaim the old number, but you need another real mobile number to reclaim it (which won't cost $3). As soon as you reclaim it, incoming calls will go to GV voice mail.

I have done it. Also, if you don't want to reclaim it, that is fine as well. We're all doing this for 30 days and letting the line expire after that.

Does this work with other Motos that are not officially supposed to work with "Ready for" ? TIA
I cannot be 100% sure. I would suggest downloading the apk and try it out. Moto G Stylus 5G is not "officially" supported according to Motorola website. However, when I download and install it, it seems to integrate with the phone naturally.

Did port from TracFone too and on metro side they say tech issue. On TracFone side when I msg Ntp it says /we do not have any record in our system with your information/. Did they return you TracFone account or it is completely lost after two days?

See my post on 3/6/24 https://slickdeals.net/f/17325810-metro-by-t-mobile-port-in-new-number-offers-select-smartphone-30-days-service-from-40-free-shipping?p=169650879#post169650879 . I got offered the $30 plan with a $0 iPhone11, got them in the cart, but the order failed. That would've been a slick deal.

Same. I had 50-60+ credits on my cc. I even chatted with the bank. No problems. Meanwhile i gave ATT billing address different from my dr lic. BB took my dr lic #. I don't even have a legal physical address in my name. Other merchants and ATT approve. Only stupid metro refuses to sell me phones.
