Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

https://voice.google.com/u/0/settings#voicemail
Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

When you ordered, did you leave the phone # to be the same as your Metro phone's #? --> Yes the number that i got for 1st order which was my GV number.
Did you use the same credit card as on your first order?--> Yes but i used Capital one virtual card for both order
Thanks.
That's crazy that a virtual card # works but real card # doesn't. You have to wonder what nutty algorithms Metro is running.

Beware of shady store practices if trying to do this deal. All the stores are independently owned (franchises). The store I went to when getting this deal previously forced be to buy insurance for the phone when I didn't want to. They literally refused to process the transaction without it even after I showed them it wasn't required. I called corporate and they said the store had to refund it, the store said they couldn't and corporate had to do it so they were pointing the finger at each other. I ended up having to dispute the charge on my credit card to get it resolved. When it came time to cancel the service after the first month the store refused to do it because they would lose money. I went to another store and they cancelled it without any problems. Frankly, it wasn't worth the hassle of getting an iPhone 12 for $165.
But is the phone locked or unlocked ?

Technically after you received your phone and activated your account, you are allow to add a line, port in, get a phone with the plan of $30/month. So the iphone 12 will be $99+$30 per month instead of $99+$65, and same for all the other phones.

The issue is that I've tried many times, with different accounts, phone numbers, devices, browsers, internets, and there is no way you can add a new line with $30/month and get the phone.

Everytime at the last step after you filled out all the information, they said "Please contact us to complete your order. Your security is important to us. Unfortunately can't complete your order online. Our award-winning Mobile Experts are ready to assist you. Please call us or visit a store to continue." I called them every time, and I promise you they will not solve this issue.

Seems like you must use a new account to finish the payment and get the phone.

I wonder if the key is to buy two to start with.
It seems that T-Mobile would rather have a new customer than an old customer.

Wow, nice! But how do you do that?
In theory, you would request an eSIM and share the QR code. Whoever has the QR code has the line.

In practice, Metro ties the SIM to the phone IMEI, so not sure this would work.

I have seen that also BUT a few people here posted that the have done more than 2 deals, now that could be for 2 seperate accounts though. Hope for someone to confirm if more than 2 phones have been done on the same account number!!
I have tried to order a third device under the same account using different browsers and/or different credit cards 3 times - all failed with the same message. Each time my credit card was charged but immediately refunded. Also the option of adding another line would be disabled right after the failure but would become available again a few hours later. It's as if Metro was making fun of us - they don't generate the real reason for the failed ordering.

I'm convinced Metro has implemented multiple layers of enforcing the 2 device/household limit. If you truly want to buy more than 2 and wouldn't mind losing some multiple line discount, start from scratch and make sure every piece of info is new (maybe even using a different address).

I was trying to get this offer porting my Google voice number, all good but in the final step I just receive an email from Google about to "unlock" my number to port to another carrier, I paid 3$ and go back to metro pcs but only receive a message about something was wrong, I repeat the process but now in metro web I receive this message: Unfortunately, this number can't be transferred. Try another number or choose a new number to continue.

Is the Moto 5G Stylus the best budget phone deal available right now for those looking for a WiFi only phone (pay for 1 month of service and let it cancel)?

It seems like it. Even used variants (on Swappa etc.) of the Moto 5G Stylus are still quite a bit more expensive than this deal.
Yes I got both A15 5g and Moto G and moto works much better in normal usage and gaming. For $40 go for Moto.

I've had that happen twice. Metro snatched your number, and will hold onto it for 4 to 6 hours. Try again in 6 hours.

They won't charge you. It is temporary hold, when the checkout failed, the system would send an immediately refund.

If you delete your GV number after activating the metro number (you must have received a phone-activated email from Metro), then it will create porting issues.

Right now, your incoming calls will give you a busy ton for a ported-out GV number. Now issues mean the phone will remain active on GV and Metro. You can simply reclaim the old number, but you need another real mobile number to reclaim it (which won't cost $3). As soon as you reclaim it, incoming calls will go to GV voice mail.

I have done it. Also, if you don't want to reclaim it, that is fine as well. We're all doing this for 30 days and letting the line expire after that.
Thanks for the reply. I won't delete the GV number. So, I thought reclaiming the number was when it expired in GV. Are you saying that once the line expires, Metro will release the number and I can reclaim the exact number as long as it's within 45 days (as required by GV for reclaiming numbers?). I don't have to port it back OUT of Metro back to GV before 30 days expires? I have a real mobile number to link with the GV number.
