Now they've done it...
New wording for Metro unlock policy:

https://www.metrobyt-mobile.com/t...ock-policy

"Unlock eligibility requirements
We unlock mobile devices that meet the following eligibility criteria free of charge:

The device must be purchased from Metro by T-Mobile.
The device must not be reported as lost, stolen or blocked.
Three hundred sixty-five (365) days must have passed since the device's activation date."

Should obviously only apply to purchases made after they changed the rules.
But might have to fight for that...
scroll down to Port your Google Voice number out to another carrier

https://support.google.com/voice/...5667?hl=en

Account is GV Number no dashes and need Setup Voicemail PIN is Port PIN if not setup that yet

to setup the voicemail pin have go to settings and enable Call to listen Check and manage your voicemails by calling your Google Voice number.

https://voice.google.com/u/0/settings#voicemail
Your account number is your google voice phone number. The pin is the one you set up in Google voice to check voice messages.

Is it possible to transfer your new metro phone number over again and buy another device? Im talking about a metro phone you just bought and got in the mail. Can you transfer that metro number over to a new metro phone and then continue to keep the old phone for the 6 months until it unlocks even though it has no phone number?

Hi. I am trying to order a phone from different google accounts, so that I can port out the GV number.
However, Google requires me to link each account to an actual phone line for verification. is there a way for me to remove my phone from the first google account and use it with the second one? Right now I get an error, even though the phone number is unlinked from the first google account.
A better way is to just have the verification pin sent to a family member or friend's phone if they are willing to go along. Once the GV number is obtained then don't forget to remove your family member's number from the account.

The discount only works on porting a number not from Metro or Tmobile. I learned this the hard way when I bought a TMobile # to port and it took the discount off even though the number was valid for porting.

It should work to port the metro number over to another prepaid service (that's not under Tmobile). I'm thinking of doing this if something pops up within the first month of Metro service.

Thanks for the reply. I won't delete the GV number. So, I thought reclaiming the number was when it expired in GV. Are you saying that once the line expires, Metro will release the number and I can reclaim the exact number as long as it's within 45 days (as required by GV for reclaiming numbers?). I don't have to port it back OUT of Metro back to GV before 30 days expires? I have a real mobile number to link with the GV number.
If you don't care about the ported-out GV number, do nothing.

You won't be able to reclaim your GV number after 45 days (my understanding).

After 30 days, your Metro line will be disconnected, but the number won't be released by Metro before 45 days (maybe 90 days, but I am not 100% sure).

If your goal is to port out your GV number --> activate the phone on Metro --> start the 180-day counter for unlocking --> throw away the GV number --> move on.

Of course not. Port-in means you port a number from another carrier to Metro. Metro to Metro is not a Port-in.

Chances are, not even from T-Mobile as Metro is owned by T-Mobile.

I got an email from Metro that my order has shipped. However UPS still shows label created since 3 days. The "Activate" button on the Metro orders is also greyed out.

Anyone had delays like this? I don't know if the order is in limbo.
Same with mine, says order shipped and never make any progress from last Thursday.

Mine took a couple of days before the order status changed to shipped. Hang in there, hopefully it'll be on the way soon

I disagree. I think donkey kong is the best video game ever.

Is the iphone 12 worth it? I ended up deciding on the iphone 12 as an upgrade to my current unlocked galaxy A54 (in 6 months), since I wanted to go with Iphone instead of android. I guess Iphones are expensive though because it came to $165. Who out there has the iphone 12 and how good is it?

It's a perfectly good phone with good performance (if you're not running benchmark apps on it all day). Considering how much they're charging for an iPhone 13 or newer, it's still a pretty good deal in my opinion. It'll probably receive updates for at least 3 years. Maybe more.

I purchased this. While placing order on Metro website, it's asking for zip code. What zip code did you give?

Thanks
